Can't Sleep In My Own Bed

@JadesJewel - a friend of mine was assaulted in her bedroom a year ago, and she's been getting help recovering. As part of that, she did a complete makeover of her bedroom.

She's on a budget, so most of the stuff she had to do swapping stuff for on local pay it forward sites, which included trading her (previously much loved) bed.

She made her room a bit of a calming, forest-themed sanctuary, which I personally find a bit out there. But it did help her a lot in making the space feel safe again. I think a big part of that safety came from the energy and time that she invested in making the space completely different and calming.

It worked really well for her, so maybe it could work for others.

Thank you @Ragdoll Circus and so good that your friend is able to enjoy and sleep in her bedroom once again and I've bought new things changed the furniture around and nothing worked thus far. This old antique very old Oak bed with high hand-carved headboard and matching foot board is estimated worth of around $1000 (or more) and I only share this info to paint the point of not being able to sell it.

And way back when I was able to trade my beloved beautiful very ornate big Brass bed (high head/footboard as well) for half-payment for this lovely old Oak bed and I could not afford to store nor give away my Oak bed @Ragdoll Circus. I'd waited a lifetime to get such a bed as my Oak one. And it is not the bed that is the problem, it is being in my bedroom to sleep (this room is not as large as living room) and after sister and I were put by father in orphanage I had one of the worst nightmares while at children's home about the bedroom walls, ceiling, and the floor all simultaneously closing in on me (coffin-like) and this horrific nightmare scared me so much! I now so struggle and suffer with suffocation (step-father played suffocation game with me) and the claustrophobia and seems for now the only remedy for now is (as I've just recently done) moving back into the bigger more spacious living room to sleep. I simply am unable to stay in my bedroom and in my own bed for very long as I just feel like I'm being transported back again to the orphanage and again the feeling of the coffin encasement begins to overwhelm me!

I just cannot stay in this bedroom for very long of a period of time at all. A few weeks or so ago @RagdolI Circus I'd moved back into my bedroom and being in this room was unbearable and suffocating for me. I know that I could sell my beautiful old antique Oak bed, and the two nice bamboo enclosed (doors) etageres and the other favored furniture pieces that are in my bedroom, and yet I know this would not alleviate the suffocation and claustrophobia issues that I've been experiencing ever since a little girl (sister too) who were abandoned:arghh; by father at the Dessie Scott Children's (orphanage) Home.

Please know that I so very much appreciate @Ragdoll Circus your caring enough about me to post about your friend as I do value you in forum and look forward to reading and trying to respond to your posts as well, and also trying to be a supportive part of your world too!
Again, Thanks!
