General Carers' Input Requested

Hi

Anthony has posted in the Announcements forum today about his plans for the future of the forum. I left a brief comment. Although I don't look at the sufferes area a lot right now, it was so very important to have that access. I think, particularly new memebers would miss that and perhaps not even KNOW what they are missing if in a seperate forum.

I don't think they should be separated like that. They are already in a good spot as it is. It makes it easy for me to sift through the sufferers as well as carers...

I hope for carers and sufferers alike the forum stays as it is.

Separating them into different forums would be detrimental to both sides. As it is now we can all read and share experiences as they change our lives, good or bad. New members can be guided to different sections/areas depending on first if they are a carer or sufferer, but then pointed to specific threads to help them understand both sides of the coin where needed.

If it is separated this essential learning curve will be harder for all of us, we all need to be able to connect as one. To be able to pass on information to both sides from both sides, it works well like this.

I hope it stays this way.

At the risk of seeming redundant, as a carer, being able to read and interact with sufferers has helped me gain a greater empathy and understanding of what my wife is dealing with. It has helped me immensly, and I could not imagine not having that ability to share across those lines. I would think the same thoughts would be shared by many suferers. Seeing the world from anothers perspective can only help, in my humble opinion. I only hope it will stay as it is in this respect.
