CBC panel results

I take trileptal for extreme anxiety. Just had my CBC panel done and some results are out of range. A trend towards anemia (which I have had symptoms). Trileptal can cause liver damage. So.... anyone deal with this or changing off of the med. my eyes have been weird this year as well. I just figured it was middle age. Also... I can’t afford insurance.

@Rumors there were was a screw up on my results and they are redoing it with the correct lab range, but from what I can tell on what didn’t get messed up is that my mch was low and my hemoglobin high. My hands are always painfully cold. My periods cause extreme need to sleep and have a lot of blood loss for a few days and then stop, but that was 3 weeks ago.

Not sure what your diet looks like, but often times that is from a nutritional deficiency. They may prescribe iron...

If you can get the iron issue worked out, would you stay on the med?

I take Trileptal and it’s one of the best meds I’ve tried......I have had a number of serious-ish side effects....kidney stones, breathing issues due to a magnesium deficiency (ugh). I am willing to work through the side effects because A) the med works very well at stabilizing me and B) I’m pretty much at the end of the road in terms of true mood stabilizers.

I had iron deficiency issues before (not due to trileptal) and I took a liquid iron supplement. In 3 days I had much more energy, and in 2 weeks I had color back in my face. (In general I have better luck with liquid supplements.)

I would wait for more information. Low hemoglobin is anemia not high. Low MCH levels is a sign that you could have anemia or be at risk for anemia, but it isn't one of the parts of your CBC that gives a lot of information. How low is your MCH?

I am pretty sure that mine has been caused by the trileptal. It’s the whole reason my doctor runs these tests. There has been a significant change since last year when I took it, my dose is also now at 6 pills instead of 2.

@Nessa7 my MCH is 25.4. My platelets are 411. My RDW is in range but the very last normal option of 15.4

I realize that they aren’t way off, but my hands are always so painfully cold. I get dizzy. During my period I get so tired and fatigued. Also my eyes keep changing. Sometimes completely blurring out.

I’m guessing you mean 300mg pills? I only take 2 a day, my system can’t handle a higher dose. It sounds like you’re on a much higher dose than I am.

Yes. 1800 all taken at once at bed time. He wants it to sedate my system. I wake up rested in most mornings.

Can I ask how long you’ve been taking it?
For over a year now. At my blood test a year ago, I was in range on everything. I’ve noticed these weird symptoms such as ice feet and hands a month or so after switching to 6 pills. But it happened gradually and seems to be getting worse
