CPTSD was never a diagnosis to be outdated... it was always a theoretical model for requested inclusion into the DSM and ICD. The DSM did not recognise it because it crossed borders with too many diagnoses that otherwise better fit symptoms, however; has now been inclusive within PTSD symptom boundaries as a new sub-type disorder, though not named CPTSD, but PTSD-DD. The prior model crossed into BPD, an Axis II disorder group, which isn't even on the same plain as Axis I disorders, such as PTSD. They stepped outside of reality with their theory, which is why it was so heavily refuted.

The ICD hasn't yet ruled the classification name in or out at this stage, as it typically awaits to see what the DSM is doing and normally follows closely inline with it to keep confusion to a minimum, however; the World Health Organisation (WHO) have very different policies and cover the globe unilaterally, which far surpasses the DSM reach and agenda, which is first the USA.

Thank you Anthony for clearing this all up for me. It gave me more information, and I'm all for that.

Had to look up ICD. Heard of DSM and WHO, but not ICD. For me ICD means something different and I have it in my chest, Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator. Ironic since this is what the thread is about. Not making fun of anyone, just thought it was funny. Especially since I tend to think I'm up on things. I guess not so much.:hilarious::confused:
