Does Beauty Come In A Bottle????

I'm also sorry that you had that lady all over you. ...it's just some kind of beauty ideal dictated from society. I don't wear make up, I don't even know how to use it :p and I always stand out with that. Most girls I know wear make up...and put a lot of chemistry in their hair so it looks fuller etc....but as soon as I see them without all that stuff, I get a shock. The most of them is younger than I but looks ten years older without all the paint in the face.

So, don't worry. I have to attend some very officiall events and they were all over a dress code! I was so shocked when I saw that it belongs to woman's dress code to wear make up!?! ... I didn't do it. And I don't want to. ...the beauty and the pharma lobby might work hand in hand in some ways. More make up to make you look younger, more creme to correct what the make up did to you...:meh:

I only wear 50+ Spf sunscreen to save my skin from the sun because I have a very sensitive skin which is prone to sun burn. So to protect it I need to cover it from UV light. At night I moisturize my face with a very basic dermatologist medical grade lotion for moisture. I am planning on buying a lip balm which will have bit of color like I used to wear. I am also planning on making my own tonor from natural things and a deodorant from natural things as well. I avoid soaps on skin because of skin sensitivity and dislike using perfumes because their smell gives me migraines.

While Beauty does not come in a bottle, sometimes a shift in moods can...

I have used lip gloss to boost my mood before, and it works without harming anyone so I don't feel bad about it. Putting on a touch of color and feeling girly has been a tool that's fast, inexpensive, and totally intimately personal as it's at my own whim, so nobody knows what I'm really up to...but there are definitely moods that don't budge for anything, especially not lipstick.

Makeup junkie here *raises hand sheepishly*... Of course you don't need make-up (other than sunscreen) and anyone who says so is not worth your time. People often think I'm younger than I am, which is always odd, as I can see the lines and stuff (immature maybe? ;p ). I usually have a bare face, but for parties, and events I apply it. I wear makeup because for years I was very frightened of it, now it is fun to play with and I keep it light (most days). Unless...it's zombie makeup! I'm good at that lol ;) great with liquid latex. I hate encountering the hard sell in stores and her manner sounds very offensive! If you decide to experiment with makeup Sephora online might be a place to start, I buy all of mine there and prefer it to having a stranger dissecting me with their words and eyes. You are just perfect the way that you are @J_trustno1!

I wore makeup once and that was the day I got married 28 odds years ago, and that was only because they made me for the photos. Jess you are very beautiful just the way you are, you do not need to wear makeup to get a man and if you did and only got a man because of what you had on your face he wouldn't be worth keeping anyway.

Very well said @Sammyiam. I truly believe in what you've said.

I know that I want a relationship and I'm left behind in that race where majority of my friends are getting married or having kids or have partners. I am competing a race I haven't even started but at the same time I don't want someone only wanting me as a trophy wife. I want to be liked and wanted for who I am other than for having all that crap on my face.

I'm a total makeup junkie, too @WildMermaid! No shame in it at all. I don't think makeup is required for beauty, but I do get irked at those who shame makeup users (not here, I've seen it elsewhere). I just want to roll my eyes at them. I have extremely problematic skin due to a wide variety of sensitivities. Sometimes the reactions are so bad that people would ask me if I had chicken pox! So for me, its not about making myself look fake, its about making myself look like a better version of myself. I go for a totally natural look, no bright eye shadows or anything like that. But, truth be told, when my skin has periods when it isn't flared up, I will go out with a completely natural face. Otherwise, its no fun to go out in public with a skin reaction that makes me look like a 15 year old with out of control acne. (I've had reactions that were so bad that I refused to leave the house for a week.) I don't want to be stared at, I just want to appear normal like everyone else! (Side note, I do want to throw things at the TV when the acne product ads come on and some beautiful woman is freaking out about ONE SOLITARY blemish! Please, get over yourself.) So yes, for me, its not about wanting to be beautiful, its about wanting to be presentable, normal, and not stick out like a freak at times.

I can understand where you are coming from @Solara. I think makeup should be a personal choice other than what that Chinese lady was trying to sell me. And same goes for my Korean friend who thinks only makeup (natural look) can save me and land me in a relationship. But at the end of the day I have to be comfortable with myself.

Jess do you have access to Lush cosmetics down there?

I LOVE them! They can be a bit more on the pricey side, but for certain products, its definitely worth it.

My favorite is their T'eo deodorant. It works SO well that sometimes I can't even tell if a shirt has been worn....yep, its that good at neutralizing odors. Its not an anti-perspirant, so no aluminum in it (which is supposedly bad for us). It does cost a little more than other products out there, but it doesn't ruin my clothes like every other commercial deodorant product I've found. (So in the end, I'm probably saving money, I do believe.)

Lush has other awesome natural products, and they list all of their ingredients. Some of their things are a little too much for me (like spending $10 on a bath bomb that I'd use once? No thank you.) I also like their body massage bars (I use them as a moisturizer.) Some of their other products are hit and miss.
