Here's the thing. I've never tried weed and thought this time I want to try it. Maybe do it once a month if its safe. But really. How safe is it to try weed even once when on Serta 150mg everyday? I've googled abt this and got results saying it obviously isn't safe and can worsen symptoms and so on.

Do you have a psychiatrist you can speak with? I trust mine with questions like this because it's their specialty.

I used mmj off and on for 4 years without trouble but currently am off. I spoke with my psychiatrist last week about this and we discussed the positives and negatives of me using it.

I've never been on Serta so that combination is foreign to me. Hope you figure this out.

First choice - see your doctor and check it out. Or a cannabis specialist doctor.

Check out CBD too. It has calming properties that for me offer more help with day to day PTSD symptoms than THC.

THC can cause paranoia and that does not go well with anything PTSD. In the original plant CBD and THC are in balance. That meant there was as much Psychotic (THC) as Anti-Psychotic (CBD) which reduced the paranoia but also reduced the high feeling - so in modern plants CBD was bred out.

I use both CBD and THC but only the CBD is daily regular use. THC is occasional and helps me with sleep - but what I use is very specific - and used in a specific way.

<cough> Depending on one’s unique neurochemistry.

I can’t use high CBD anything, because it not only makes me high as f*ck, and paranoid bordering on delusional psychosis, eyeballs deep in panic attacks… but it actually lowers my pain threshold, so I’m in even more pain than I was previously.

No matter what the psychoactive chemical involved? About 20% of people will have wildly different responses -including paradoxical responses- than the majority of people experience.

😉 PSA over

Which is why you see a doctor as a first step......always.

The only thing you would need to be concerned about is serotonin syndrome, but using low doses of both should mitigate that issue. I had serotonin syndrome using kratom and dextromethorphan as I forgot that kratom also acts on serotonin receptors. For me I experienced it as tremors, shaking, and psychomotor agitation. If you start to experience those symptoms, discontinue using marijuana.

Like others have said, PTSD and marijuana usage is a crack shot. I cannot use marijuana at all, in any capacity, because I get extreme derealization and depersonalization and it worsens my psychotic symptoms and I get delusional. Some people find it is the only thing that gives them any form of relief. The only way you will know for sure is to try it.

My recommendation would be to get a spray or an edible that way you can monitor the exact amount you are consuming, and start with 2-5mg and see how that affects you. (With edibles, they can sometimes take up to 2+ hours to kick in, so don't start eating more if you don't feel the effects soon.) Having experience with getting myself thru bad trips, if you experience those effects, do your best to remind yourself that this state is transient and it will eventually end.

Me, I can smoke a joint and end up f*cked for six+ hours even if the marijuana effects only last 20 minutes. It kicks off my actual mental illness and that persists until eventually all of the MJ is out of my system. But it does end && you won't feel like that forever. Best to use for the first time in a situation where you feel safe and you are around someone you trust not to freak out if something goes sideways.

It's legal here. Whole country. Still docs advise against. Mine GP did too. So I went and found a cannabis doctor. Ultimately - for me its a personal choice.

What I’m saying is that not everyone has the option of getting a stamp of approval from their doctor, as you suggest. This is a worldwide forum, not just Australia or the UK or the USA, where laws vary widely. MJ is “legal” in many states in the USA, but this is only because the feds look the other way as state laws are in conflict with federal laws. So technically it’s not “fully legal” anywhere in the USA. (I don’t know where you live though, I’m just speaking about my country.)

...and I found out CBN? Opposite land from what it should do....like drinking a couple cans of Monster Mocha......

If you are really dissociated, mj can make it worse. It can help with the anxiety of PTSD, but at the cost of making you more dissociated.
Agree! Weed Offers relief to some symptoms for me but sitting with friends can be a coin flip as to whether or not that initial anxiety like feelings associated with the first 10-15 weed minutes LOL might trigger a Flight or freeze response sometimes

love it for days when I’m already triggered and the causes are obvious…and just waiting for the ptsd brain Cup to empty ! It’s not been a meditation friend. For me. Hopefully different for you all!
