Watson: Oh, rather not!

Sarg

Sherlock: You're a doctor. In fact you're an army doctor.
Watson: Yes.
Sherlock: Any good?
Watson: Very good.
Sherlock: Seen a lot of injuries then. Violent deaths.
Watson: Well. Yes.
Sherlock: Bit of trouble too I bet.
Watson: Of course. Yes. Enough for a lifetime. Far too much.
Sherlock: Wanna see some more?
Watson: Oh god yes.

And:

Watson: That was ridiculous. That was the most ridiculous thing I've ever done.
Sherlock: You invaded Afghanistan.

Hijack complete.

My two cents worth:

KIDS - Need time to be kids. They need the security that a stable home brings. They need a chance to fail so that they can learn the cost of failure. They need to try lots of things so that they can find something to call their own. But, most of all they just need to be loved.

Heh, well my movie quote was a little bit to post.... I agree with you SD, kids need to have room to succeed, fail, grow. They need love. But they also need to know respect and discipline.

Kids are no different than adults in many respects. The punishment needs to fit the "crime."

One of the things that gets my blood boiling is parents that let their kids run amok in a restaurant. Yelling, screaming, running around their table and mine, throwing things and the parents sit there, chuckling, like this is cute and acceptable behavior. "My child is such a free spirit." They say. Maybe this is a touchie-feelie California thing, but FFS. I want to smack the parent, not the child. The child is only doing what their parents have allowed them to do. The parents on the other hand... The back of my hand I want to be giv'n them.

Sludge, sorry but you did not hijack the thread you just looked like a jackass.

There is a serious problem out there today and it has a lot to do with society and social media. In our day you did what your parents told you to do and what the teacher said and god forbid if you were talked to by the police (my father).

Kids go to school today and tell the teachers where to go then go home and tell their parents they are not to touch them as they have rights. WTF. And it is only going to get worse. Kids see someone belting someone up on youtube and think its funny then go share it or try it themselves. Parents are not role models any more. My son once told me that his friends had better parents because they were allowed to go out till midnight and their parents did not want to know where they were all the time. I told him that I was a caring parent and I did not give a shit what they were like and thanked him for giving me their name because he would not be going to their house at all to stay.

I pity my grandchildren.
