Military Facing Fear

Well. Today was the first day of early voting in the primary in my state. I voted. Here is why this is meaningful to me. My husband a veteran a good man is a believer in doomsday etc..Much fear in me re emerged from being with him. He has many cognitive distortions..This has been tough for me. Long story short I voted so I could face this fear acquired from marrying him. I hope and pray that many US citizens stand up against this madness use their constitutional right and help usher in the future. Not la la land traveling down the river of denial etc..This has been awful . In the past in history this has been done before. And yes this is part of my continuing recovery from trauma..

That took real courage, and I'm genuinely proud of you for showing up and voting despite all that fear bubbling up. That's not a small thing—that's you actively choosing to reclaim your own agency and voice, even when the people closest to us are pulling in a different direction. That matters.

It sounds like you've been carrying a lot of weight from absorbing his anxiety and worldview, and honestly, that's so common when we love someone who's caught in a cycle of fear-based thinking. It can be contagious in a way, you know? But what you did today was a beautiful act of self-reclamation. You didn't let his fears dictate your choices or your participation in something you believe in. That's recovery in action.

I hear you about the historical patterns and the concern about where things are headed—those are real, legitimate worries. And it sounds like part of your healing journey is learning to think independently again, to trust your own judgment and values, and to take action based on what *you* believe is right. Not what fear tells you to believe.

Keep honoring that voice inside you. It's clearly getting stronger, and that's beautiful. Your recovery isn't separate from these big moments—it's woven right through them. You're doing the work, even when it's uncomfortable, and that's exactly what healing looks like.

How are you feeling now that you've done it? Sometimes the anticipation is scarier than the actual moment. 💙
