We are having a "nor'easter." The fact that they say this and it's a thing drives me insane. I think it's supposed to. I think "they" are trying to drive us all insane.

We used to call it "rainy and windy." There was no hysteria because we were all used to it and everyone could handle it and you were supposed to.

It's normal weather for this time of year.

I lived when I was young on the very outer edge of the walking distance to my grade school. When I was six years old they handed me a lunchbox and shoved me out the front door and said "See you this afternoon."

So in retrospect this probably wasn't the best idea but the point is in general we were able to do it and this weather wouldn't have made any difference except we would have worn raincoats and galoshes and everyone would have been half soaked and hanging the raincoats in the coat rooms and drying everyone out and you know what? It was fun.

My mother never drove me to school. Most people had one car and most moms stayed home and a little wind and rain wasn't enough to make everyone panic and it was hardly newsworthy except if or not the weatherman got it right.

But maybe I'm just overwhelmed with nostalgia. I have a birthday coming up. I'm going to write about the weather and our continuing efforts to get more healthy by walking outside. We are up to 3 miles almost daily. It's been a couple months and it's easy now. Yesterday we walked the streets because the beach was too windy.

"Rain and wind" doesn't make a good news story :)

It's still blowing and raining. I'm not typing I'm talking to the phone which has real possibilities. But when you're talking out loud people can hear you when they want to know who you're talking to lol.

It's been raining and blowing all week. People are anxious because of it. Tons of rain wind and high surf since we are at the ocean. It gets to you because walk outside and you get hit with it. They were supposed to resurface our road this week but gave up because of the weather.

So we are supposed to look up the new schedule online but IDK where. They told us we can't park on the street and in my town everyone parks on the street because we really don't have driveways. If you do have a driveway it's usually so small you use it for something else.

This is the beach man. Prime real estate.

I love my town off season. None of this sad sh*t and the boys of summer and all that. I'm happy it's deserted. No traffic. I consider I'm expert at driving here i do it so much. It's a different rhythm off season.

The sun was out today but it's really cold. It's been raining most nights. It makes me sad because winter is right around the corner and where I live winter is awful!! Loooong. Cold. Snow. Grey. Blah!

J and I still try to get out on the weekends though. I have my snow suit and boots.

It's blowing an actual gale. Now I'm all nautical because of the years i spent on the water and boy do I miss my sailboat!

When the weather was like this old captain Anthony used to look at me and say "you're glad you're not gonna be out there tonight boy.". Yes, he called me boy. It's common enough amongst the men. I was about 20.

There were shingles around the house this morning and I was lying awake listening to the wind trying to rip the roof off the house. It'll never be as bad as the last place we lived but there, if the roof blew off it was the landlords problem. Now I can't sleep because its mine but that's the joy of home ownership. I'm sure it's increased in value but you know what I mean.

Our roof is fine I still don't know whose house they blew off, one of the neighbors.

They are closing the mall where I've always gone. I know there was a time it wasn't there but I don't remember it. The Walmart and Sears and Macy's were the anchor stores that were left. It's been a creep show for six or seven years half empty and so on.

There is a very busy target up the street that was open on auxiliary power and mist of the lights in the store were out. The power was out in that whole area and even the traffic lights were out. Roads were closed everywhere due to trees down. We didn't lose power. The wind is subsiding slowly but it's still howling.

They did not build this up and were not hysterical about it. They just said it was going to be rain and some wind. It was a pretty big one!

Where I live we get 8 months of rain a year, plus the added benefit of the east wind. You get used to it after awhile and get annoyed when the sun comes out and gets in your eyes!

The east wind is the real big badass here. Northeast to be more precise. The beast from the east has the potential to seriously damage my town and several other costal communities in the area.

The wind backs around from the northwest when the storms go by. It's a lot of excitement and I'm a weather fanatic, which is connected to my other outdoor/ocean activities like the fishing boat I worked on and surfing, which I did around here for 30 + years.

If I had money I’d have a weather station at my house hooked up to the internet like some others do in town. It's nice to be able to monitor live conditions because the tv weather is a crock of bull lol.
