Fear at Night...I Want to be Alert

I have always had trouble with this...I think that it goes back to the fact that a childhood friend of my bros used to sneak into my room at night and abuse me...later my ex psycho had a habit of doing similar things. I suppose it does not help that I have issues with my hearing and am also extremely far sighted. Always feel like someone could sneak up on me at any time and I would not necessarily be aware of it until it was too late.

My solution may not work for everyone but it does for me...I have a dog. She has very good ears ...no one will make it in my apt without my knowing.

Jerron is very protective, pure black (and almost completely invisible at night), will issue one bark to alert me and then go completely silent. She also knows how to open doors and would happily meet someone halfway.

So if by chance someone does make it inside?....Well, lets just say I pity them.

Vapor, please update us as we are concerned and your last post was a while ago. I say this gently with kind intentions-------you sound like you are headed for a crisis and that you are on a downward spiral(I've been on plenty)Your OCD is getting worse and paranoia is consuming your thoughts, combine this with severe sleep deprivation and lookout! I've been in that awful place. Please, get help.

I totally agree with Void. I've been there also and it's like a damn mouse on a wheel. Less sleep, more intese symptoms, more wacked out head. One of my trauma counselors always told me to remember "HALT"....Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired. If any ONE of those exists...trouble starts. The more you have the bigger trouble you're about to run into. I thought he was stupid at the time but damn if he ain't right. BUT I have to concentrate on one at a time each day. And I highly suggest naps. I sleep much more relaxed during the day and if it helps me keep my head in order when I go through insomnia/anxiety at night.... well then I'm trying. And sometimes that's all we can do!

But in the end...yes, you need help with this.

still the same.. went to bed at 6am this morning... but i have a 3 day weekend so thats not so bad. I did sleep for 5 hours... then i took a nap from 4pm-6pm

I ran out of clonidine 2 days ago . i picked it up today .. (didnt have chance to before)...

Without the clondine i have very bad night terrors.. and when i wake up i hallucinate.. and the dream is still going on ... een though Im awake ... so the pat 2 nights worth of dreams haev been rough.

The first one .. was that i was in armegeddon .. a huge storm had taken over the whole world... and I was seperated from my dog.. and couldnt get to him to save him ... when i woke up .. I jumped out of bed and I was seeing huge bolts of purple lightning hitting the ground.. I started to scream and that snapped me out of it.

Then last night i dreamed my room mate was going to kill me.. it was so real .. even when I woke up i was convinced she was still trying to kill me... very bizzare.

Tonight will be beter, Im going to try and be disciplined.. and now I have the clondine.. so shouldnt have night terrors.

3 day weekend, that was a little bit of a help. Sorry about your bad night terrors, Vapor. It's good to know your medicine helps with this, as I use to take a medicine that actually seemed to cause such night terrors.

Not thinking clear at all tonight, but will be wishing you improvement and better sleep soon. please take care.
