New Here
Anyone here who has read my introduction will plainly see that I have chosen to deal with my husband's PTSD by helping people deal with it, educate themselves, and reintegrate into society in a healthy manner. I strongly believe in what I do, and have had some small successes along the way with the people I've "touched".

Im not a mental health professional or anything like that, but I do support many good programs that have them.

One such program is Idaho Horse Therapy's PTSD program. They do equine therapy with people dealing with PTSD at no out of pocket charge to the client and their family. They have done great work with my husband and my family as well, allowing us to heal and "get back on our feet" in return, I joined forces with another gal in my home town who had previously held a jack rabbit derby (community event) to raise awareness for military families, and raised about $1500 to send to the Idaho National Guard Family Support fund. We have been in the planning stages of this years event and decided to support the PTSD program through Idaho Equine Therapy as their need for funding is far greater.

Well, I guess my issue is that now, the original chairman of the event has cut all ties and dropped the event flat on it's face. The only saving grace is that if I want to take over the event, she will give it to me. Im more than capable of doing a small event, but now that the community has been informed the jack rabbit derby is no longer happening, we have lost all our donations and credibility.

I feel very discouraged at this point. I'm also in the process of deciding if I want to continue with this event that will benefit many many people with PTSD, and im really wondering how much does this impact people with PTSD.

Is it worth the time and efforts it is going to take to put this event on?

I don't know the answers to your questions, but I think you're awesome. If you do decide to take over, make sure to do a press release announcing that the derby is back on and accepting donations and send it to all your local papers.

Thanks for the advice on getting this back on track Reclusive, if I do decide to take over the event, ill defo have to do that! I think I want to rephrase my questions into one big question. My biggest question was how much does it mean to those with PTSD that others want to support programs that provide them with services that actually work?
