So I finally heard back from the local service dog people in my area and I am to start getting my handlers card and will be meeting their only dog ready for placement. I really hope that we are a perfect match and hope that she will be a great match. I'm so excited to have a companion and will feel a lot safer in the pubic. I'm also kind of nervous too! I just hope we work out and I am super excited! I think it will also help me to not be so lonely at home and help me stay more positive.

The only thing I am worried about it, is she good with cats? My cat is afraid of other cats and hates them. So I hope that the dog will be good with her and they will get along. If you have experience with this let me know. :)

Happy Friday everyone!!!

Congratulations. :)

My (limited!) understanding is that part of service dog training (and washing out of service dog training) is tolerance / ability to ignore all other stimulating factors. Meaning people, kids, pets, squirrels, men with hats and beards...

That's so great! They think of everything when they train these dogs, so I guarantee he will get along with your cat. They expose them to bicycles, children, trains, horses, loud noises, you name it. A dog companion is so great, and one that is so well trained makes it that much better!
