From two events (a robbery and an assault that occurred to me during this past Fall) exacerbated my condition to the point that I couldn’t work because I was attacked in similar ways in my childhood.

Now, I’m behind in rent.
Do you know of any financial resources for rent assistance, for non-vets?

@Seasounds - which country are you in? We are an international forum and financial resources and benefits vary a lot depending on where you live.

Hi, it is great to hear from you. I will elaborate a bit in case it is helpful. I have already checked 211. For me, they are limited since I’ve used their resources in the past year.

I live in the United States. In August I found employment after 2.5 year of unemployment.
-One month later, Sept, I was robbed at a bus stop; unable to work, no sick pay.
-one month later, in October, I was assaulted, and in another PTSD aggravation.
-in November, tripped on a cement sidewalk, falling straight forward, like a board, onto cement; concussion to my head (main contact point), injuries to nose, and back (whiplash like injuries during the propulsion of the fall).
-one month later, on Dec 23rd, due to a restaurant table being misplaced, when scooting my chair away from the table, I went over an edge, I fell backward in a chair, and sustained another concussion and aggravated back injuries-from fall in November.
-finally, from Jan 6th unto yesterday, I’ve been dealing with several levels of illness that each lasted one week (cold turned to flu turned to bronchitis turned to severe asthma attack). Just now, I have my strength (on all levels) and energy back to look for jobs.

Your advice and referrals are going to be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Sorry for what you're dealing with. I'd start with the Department of Human Services (DHS), we have what's called a "Homeless Coalition" in our area see if you do too, St. Vincent DePaul, also the Employment office in your area may be able to point you in the right direction, reach out to the Churches in your area....

You might also ask your police department or local court if there is a victims' compensation program that you qualify for.
Great idea!

This is a little off the main point but there are also work from home options available. I know they pay people to be a virtual assistant (I think even up to $20 an hour or more). You can also get paid to do user testing, take surveys, run searches and the like. If you know multiple languages you can try translation.

Definitely try DHS first, but the Department of Housing and Urban Development is a second option in some areas.
