I have gone to bed early to avoid the fireworks because my flashbacks are triggered by loud bangs, my anxiety is escalating now after someone in my street started new year early. There is no way of escaping the noise
I typically spend fireworks celebrations with the little ones. Dogs, cats, chickens, toddlers, etc. It doesn't solve the problem, but misery loves company. Come. Join us. You will find us under the beds, buildings, etc. We get our licks in...
My anxiety is triggered by loud noises in general, and the low (bass) frequency sounds (I'm a music enthusiast so it's kinda unfortunate). I try to find some way of either distancing myself, or getting so involved I can somehow cope. Distancing could be getting away from the situation, or, with music, stand behind the amps instead of in front of them. Getting involved could be losing it completely in a fun way at concerts, joining the moshpit or making my way to the front row.
Do you have a sound isolated headset or any ways of finding company? Or do you have the possibility to play music on speakers so loud that they overrun the noise from the fireworks?
Same here! Not to mention that we live in an area where people are shooting at each other all year 'round and on New Years shooting in the air. It's hard to distinguish gunshots from fireworks when they are both happening all at once (normally I am an expert lol)
So I just stay inside and try to watch a loud movie. My dog is freaked out too so at least I'm not alone...
Those foamy ear plugs are a miracle too! Get the good ones! Wish I could be more helpful...
