There is something mystifying to me about Winter Nights. The sky goes Deep blue, A shinning white blanket covers the ground. And when it gets really cold, the snow sparkles like diamonds and makes fantastic crunch sounds! I plan to take lots of slow walks at night this winter. Thanks Cragger.
O
Thanks everyone for joining in on the pleasure of it. Winter definately can be very mystical and magical. Of course, it's much easier to appreciate sometimes from a warm house or car :D
Snow reminds me of sleigh riding as a kid, making snow angels, cold noses, tunnels in the snowbanks (dangerous!), ice skating on the lake, eyelashes freezing together!!!! Catching snowflakes on my tongue. Doing flips off the fence into the powder soft snow! Lying on my back at night in the front yard staring up into the stars and watching my breath head up there with them!!!!
I love snow! Thanks Cragger! I didn't even go out to make a snowball this morning! Silly adult! I hope more comes tonight, its just not Christmas without the snow.
Well, I wasn't quite as enthused as the rest to see those white flakes in the air this morn, but I have to admit, once the idea settled in my head I did find myself taking a nice deep breath of crisp winter air and enjoying it immensely.
I love the snow (erm, especially when I have actually managed to equip my car with snow tires) in December. Only December, really. I love it when it sits around 0 degrees and the air is perfectly still...the middle of the night..standing outside with big fat flluffy flakes of snow just floating in the air. Ahhh winter.
Winter really does paint some beautiful moments, doesn't it? The still and calm of it, the peacefullness. And some not so beautiful ones as well, but let's not go there yet ;D
I remember when my kids were little - my husband had to always work when it snowed (due to the type of job he had) - where we live it rarely snows.
Finally one year we had a doozy of a snow storm - my husband got home around 11pm. We woke the kids up - started a fire in the front yard and slid down the hill in front of our house for HOURS - it was absolutely the BEST!
Thanks for reminding me of this. Do me a favor and go play in the snow for all of us.
