Flashback Halting Process (not Only One)

It just takes enough awareness that one is actually not in the past

This is one thing (from the past) that can help: Think of the last time someone said something that you found inspiring and repeat it to yourself, now.

I really had to rack my brain to find something sometimes. You can use anyone, but, I keep some of Mother Teresa's sayings taped to my printer where I can see them. So If I'm sitting here, at least I can do that. When I'm in the bedroom, and need something inspiring, I have to go deep inside. That's why it pays to do this exercise often.

Thanks Safenow. I think what I meant is if one is far enough into a flashback then it is hard to know that one isn't in that place (trauma experience from the past) and that it is a flashback and therefore I need to ground myself. I hope that makes sense.

Of course it makes sense. I've been there too many times myself. (((( abstract )))), if you allow hugs today.
I wish there was something that could be done that very instant, but I've not found anything for that instant. I've woken up screaming before. Scared my neighbor half to death before he found out about my ptsd. Thank goodness, it doesn't happen often. This past year has been a bad one for me, but before that it was like maybe 6 years without any flashbacks. Cool huh?

That is very cool! Well done to you! Thank goodness those types are less common I am very grateful to say.

Thanks for the hugs and safe ones back if you would like them.
