Hello everyone. I have been a lurker and decided it would be healing to become a member so today I did. I was diagnosed with PTSD at age 19 after surviving rape (and that is another first I have never written the word rape regarding my experience) and some pretty dramatic child abuse but have only now at age 40 admitted to myself that this is what I suffer with. Anyway, this is the first time I am talking about it with anyone other than my husband although I have been to therapy but I NEVER wanted to admit that PTSD is what I suffered with.

I am happy this forum is here. :)

Hi Mitzi,

Well done for telling us that and finding the courage to write that first post. :applause:

You shouldn't be ashamed of suffering with PTSD, would you be ashamed if you had a physical injury?

Are you still seeing a T? If not, I recommend you find one, especially someone who specialises in trauma.

Glad to have you here

Leanne

Hi Mitzi,
Well done for your first post :)
PTSD is a hard diagnosis to grasp, understand and deal with. But now that you have accepted it, you can learn how better to live with it and lessen it's impact on your life.

Take your time to read as much as you are comfortable with, and when you are ready I look forward to hearing more from you
Best Wishes

Welcome, Mitzi, glad you found the courage to introduce yourself. This forum has indeed helped me a lot and I'm sure it will help you too as you "settle in". Take it as easy as you need to, like we all do around here.

Hi Mitzi.
I too am new here, I'm glad that you found this place, although unfortunate indeed, atleast we have a place to belong!
