Thank you :-) I figured out about the word limitation on the profile posting area. Frustrating to me as I am pretty long-winded and wordy too and I kept having to delete and simplify profile posts.
I am the type of person who can be very quiet, is basically an introvert, but when I have something to say, I can have A LOT to say :-)

Why do I feel so unworthy? I read people's diaries and I think, but they have a reason to be messed up. I'm just weak, they went through way worse stuff than me.
I'm messed up for no good reason. I know it isn't true, but that's what runs through my mind.
I have to minimize my petrifying and demoralizing(lots blanked out) childhood , my neglected, raped and assaulted, homeless and discarded, preyed on and treated-like-a-nonperson adolescence and my 21 year hell with a sociopathic drug-mind-f*cking man twice my age (I was 16, he was 34). I tell myself, but look at you compared to all these people, you have no right to be here, you are just a fake and a drama queen. That is what a voice in my head tells me. I have no right. I am just a crazy, weak loser. How can I expose myself to brave, amazing people like the ones here, when I am so full of shame and worthlessness?

Comparing traumas and suffering isn't really fair to other people... or yourself. I cringe when I read you write such harsh words of how you see yourself. What about those who went through trauma similar to yours and suffer much like you do? Are they just all weak too?

I'd suggest starting a thread in Core Beliefs / Cognitive Distortions to discuss this as it's a clear cognitive distortion and may be a core belief of yours that is keeping you stuck. (You may also continue to discuss it here but you may get a wider range of feedback by posting about it there too.)

The voice in your head that says you are fake and a drama queen sounds like the voice of an abuser. Maybe it's time to decide abusive people like them are wrong.

The truth of the matter is that you are worthy of support, just as much as everyone else here.

We mostly all have felt that way too, live with a lot of abuse, some of the abuser's voice gets inte...

Thank you Bearlinda :-) i know that is what it is. It surprised me, the vehemence of it. I though I had done more work on myself than that.
But yes, I have certainly had enough treatment that communicated very strongly to me that kind of message. I do make many efforts to be kind and saying that to myself, certainly wasn't.

The shame is so engrained!

I have made a complete break from the main, core abusers that inflicted so much damage, now all I have to do is get the worst one out of my head!

Thank you Justmehere :-) wise words.
The thing it, i don't even really believe that about myself.
I know I'm not weak
I'm certainly not fake (although I've done plenty fakin' it 'til makin' it ) .
And although I've been a performance artist for much of my life (between mothering and struggling, studying and community care work) I'm more the suffer in silence type, if you know what I mean.
It was a very strong, visceral deep seated, emotionally based reaction, and it really stunned me, the depth of my shame and lack of self regard.

I know neither I, nor anyone who's suffered remotely similarly, deserves that, but some deep-from-the-underground-semi -subconscious part of me seems to.

Maybe I should take your advice and start a thread in cognitive distortion, like you said, even though I an struggling to feel worthy enough of people's attention and time. Something to work on, definitely.

Because the thought of starting a diary still fills me with dread and the shame and sense of invidation I feel are still very strong, I'm just going to keep writing here for a while.

I just spent a little time with my oldest son. He was born when I was 17. He was born in a banana shed, up a road so bad, it wasn't drivable on. I learnt that I could do that without medical care and I was used to no care, so ... more of the same.

I spent a lot of time with him, struggling, by myself in a forest shack, stuck in the bush with nobody, or with no one who cares.

I also lived homeless a lot with my babies, on the road or, once, when I tried to get away from my ex, sleeping on beaches, in squat houses full of scary drug-afflicted and psychotic people and in the forest under the stars.
I went back to his dad because I didn't want to lose my child and I felt guilty, because Dad had already laid a guilt trip about "taking his child away from him. I was only 18.

He is an adult now. He loves travelling. He loves his family. He was suicidal earlier year but he's just got back from travelling and he had a great time. He fruit picks and works at music festivals, setting up and packing down stages. He loves his work. He loves his mum.
I'm glad we made it.:-)

There's SO MUCH I want to say, but I am resting from my first day with my almost 5 year old granddaughter. It's her first time staying a few days with me and my mom... And dog. She is a BALL of energy!

One thing... You HAVE BEEN THROUGH A LOT, and trauma is trauma! Shame and guilt have "chased" me my WHOLE LIFE! I am almost 61... I am FINALLY learning that those things were implanted in me during my young years.

Our brains get ENGRAVED on... And if it isn't good stuff, we are left repeating "garbage" language to ourselves until we can get some perspective. I think that sometimes it takes us until we get older and have children or not... To lessen the impact of the worst than crummy way we were raised... I will say more later...

I hope that maybe you will begin to see how GOOD AND WISE you have become! I SEE IT in what you say and what you have done! If you have succeeded in having made sure that your children KNOW they ARE LOVED... You have CHANGED the courses of their lives, and have broken the chain of shame and guilt that can follow generations!

Blessings my friend!❤️

My brain hurts. It feels damaged. It aches in a dull, heavy, foggy, impaired way.
Where is my life? It is in tatters with my health.
Despite HUGE efforts on my part, i am ragged and very unwell.
I wish, now, that I had listened to the nice doctor who moved away. "Having a baby after 40 is fairly unlikely" or some such sentiment.
But I wanted a reset. I wanted a happy family without having a sociopath for the dad.

I love my children SO MUCH but their Dad has hurt me and damaged me SO MUCH and they capitulated and sided with the abuser when I was left for dead by him. They believed his lies. They shunned me when I had given them everything I had. Not all of them. I had my faithful youngest daughter with me.

She was with me in the woman's refuge. When I had to assess "How did I end up in a refuge for battered women?" My wounds were on the inside but they were killing me none the less.

I couldn't die. I had children who needed me. I couldn't leave them with him as their only parent. The hospital just treated me like I was an.insane person, thanks to the BPD I had copped by a psychiatrist who had seen me for all of 1/2 hour. She never asked me about abuse or neglect. No body told me about gaslighting then, I did think it was all me.

I was crazy and bad, even though I had kept my family together, done all the hands on work raising my 7 children, been a successful musical artist (badly paid and treated but still, the work was quality), and helped countless people who were in a bad way.

My motto was "You don't know how close to the last straw they are, this could be the kindness that makes the difference between wanting to live or die".

I knew too well about being that far down. I had survived by giving to others what I desperately needed myself. Until I realized that that wasn't going to be enough. I needed care myself. I needed someone who cared about me.

I met my sweet darling, brutalized, brain damaged friend. He was kind and genuine. I had never experienced that before. I believe it saved my life.

I am ill now after relaxing on the birth control. I figured if I couldn't conceive coz of my age, why bother about birth control? After all, I wanted a baby with the first man I'd actually been able to love without being hurt and who loved me.

Who would NEVER try to poison my children against me and cover up the destruction of my person. He would never hurt me with such maliciousness, disregard and contempt.

Our child would have been wrapped in love, laughter, honesty, integrity and, because of what we are and have lived through, much humility.

And we are both avid environmentalists, humanitarians and have high IQ's, so most likely our child would have been brilliant (yeah so humble, I know).

He is a miracle man. He is still the most brilliant man I know, even though he forgets things. He had to relearn to talk. It's amazing he survived what he's lived through. He inspires me every day.

We tried to have a baby but instead I am physically ravaged and depleted, for the attempt. 8 and a 1/2 months of pregnancy (5 weeks, 4 months, 3months) with nothing to show for it but way worse health.

I gave it a go because I wanted to start fresh. I wanted the most beautiful gift of a lifetime to be without torture and excruciating misery and emotional pain. But one thing I've learnt, you can't avoid dealing with things, they will creep up on you and overcome you when you are off guard.

I have to face it all and it still hurts like a bitch.

Thanking you from the bottom of my heart.

I know I must move beyond the shame.

So engrained, like you say.

37 years of shaming and blaming; exploited, abused, neglected.

I'm 44 now and have made headway. Those people can't hurt me like they used to.

Even though my ex can still hurt my children, he has to watch his step much more carefully now, we are all much stronger.

I feel I need much help to be rid of this shame and low self worth as it took much bad treatment to get me here, so I figure it will take much good treatment to communicate to my brain that it is unwarranted.

I do know I'm ok now, but it's a long term habit I need to break.

It's hard sometimes to "like"'posts... When I would prefer saying "I HEAR YOU!" I hope you know it's what is meant!

You CAN do this life that WILL LEAD to a better and more settled way of living! I sense it in your words and the depth of your intent and desire to overcome the past in order to LIVE!

You CAN learn to throw off the "emotional backpacks" FULL of the heavy and HUGE "boulders" that represent shame and guilt! (I hope that makes sense?) I have been through YEARS of therapy... and If I can do it... ANYONE can!

If you can take vitamins, get enough sleep, fresh air, continue your writing and music, I think you will see a turnaround soon! Especially once your Sweetie gets back!

You have done the BEST you could with the "cards" you were dealt, and you have not given up or given in!!! SO VERY HUGE!!!

As it was put to me: Guilt implies that we have DONE something wrong, and shame is believing that we ARE inherently wrong. NEITHER of those are true, but in our formative years, those messages were branded on our souls.

I PROMISE that with LOVE and the will to live, you can make great strides in your healing process!

I am really glad you found this site! Take care of YOURSELF, in the way you would want your loved ones to take care of themselves? It is time!❤️

Be BLESSED!

Thank you dear darling new friend @AngelkeeperJ/AKJ :-).

My sweetheart is back. Came home last Thursday :-).

I am DETERMINED to beat this thing! Or manage this thing.

Whatever I have to do and whatever it takes.

There should be no shame in being unwell.

I have to wear some of his symptoms as if they are my own too.

For instance, he collects many, many things. Machines to pull apart and just stuff, stuff, stuff. It's like we are barricaded in.

I feel shame about that, but it is his hoarding and his shame about it means mine takes second place.

I feel I am the social pariah because of this.

My house is unvisitable.

Two traumatized brains, hearts and souls struggling and loving each other but being a source of exposure therapy for each other as well.

My mother is a hoarder too.

I am overwhelmed with other people's "stuff" and how infringes on me.

I think this is a metaphor for my life thus far.
