Anyone else have a Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) diagnosis? That's what my diagnosis is, rather than PTSD. I get bad anxiety any time I'm around crowds of people, dealing with social situations, or around loud or aggressive people or noises. Also have panic attacks, though I don't have a panic disorder diagnosis.

I began therapy with a diagnosis of Major Depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. After I talked more about my past, my therapist added PTSD to the list. Now, I switch between GAD and Panic Disorder every few months.

I do. With PTSD and BPD. I think the GAD is more for insurence reasons though PTSD is on my mental health records, it wasn't at first.

I do have a massive amounts of anxiety that my therapist says goes beyond PTSD. Is it more then the "average PTSD"? I don't know.

Yup, serving of Major Depressive Disorder along with my GAD, as well. I'm neurologically incapable of traditional visual immersive flashbacks, don't have obvious trauma that meets the criteria, and there's not an obvious connection between my triggers and anything that could potentially meet the criteria. Short version: I couldn't handle the aggressive military environment, wearing air masks, had a friend crushed by machinery (wasn't present or involved in any way), and possibly CSA from a neighbor when I was 4, but only have a vague and unreliable memory. But I have a lot of the symptoms anyway. We might wind up with a PTSD diagnosis at some point, but not there yet.

Yes. I have had GAD for 3 years. I was undiagnosed for about a year. I had every symptom imaginable including to trips to the ER as I thought I was dying. I feel for you. You are amongst friends here to give support.

*raises hand* I was diagnosed with GAD when I was 14!
I don't have it as bad as some, but I have problems with various "everyday" things-going down stairs, escalators, brushing against someone in public, eating in public, any loud sudden noise, people walking behind me, babies, etc etc
Generally if I'm in public I'm on "high alert" and it takes very little to get me to spiral into a panicked state.
I am yet to be diagnosed with PTSD, but I'm trying to get into the doctors office anyways, so I suppose we'll see.
