Getting Through This Without Therapy

This is a rough situation I'm in here. I am 100% completely alone. No family. No friends. Nobod...
I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but depending on the type of abuse you might be able to find help through a domestic violence center. Any sexual abuse would qualify one for services and they should have several on staff with trauma experience. If they can't help they should be good for referrals; a lot of trauma therapists do internships at DV centers. I received help at one, obviously, but they also saw my husband briefly for his own sessions. Hope I haven't offended you with this suggestion, and I really hope you find the help you need. Take good care of yourself.
 
I had no "trauma" or PTSD specialist in my area at the time of my therapy. So understand your situation, but I did do what was available and got some benefit. Sort of a "if ya can't be with the one... love the one you're with" thing. I did stabilize. I did do that.

Lots of people focus on the fit... I focused on anything's better than nothing, and it was.
 
Seconding @The Albatross - I think you might be setting the agenda for what you think you need in therapy, without taking into account that there are solid basics that are not a waste of time.

Because you've had bad experiences with therapists in the past, you may be happier in a more structured modality. I'm the broken record about DBT, but for clients who want to be able to see the road map, a structured DBT program can be great.

I'm also looking at your thread title and wondering if there is any self-sabotage going on.
 
Hello everyone,

I have some good news report. The therapist mentioned before did end up calling me back, but a day late. I ended up going to an appointment and he seems downright legit. So I'm going to work with him from hereon out. Thanks for listening to me here and offering support while I go through this miserable crapola!
