Hi all,

I have CPSTD and PTSD (from an unstable/abusive childhood, as well as SA and a domestically violent relationship). I've been attempting to heal for the last 2 or so years (which sounds like nothing when I type it out...). I'll be 38 in the fall and don't have much to show for it, since the majority of my life has been taken up by simply trying to survive and regulate. I've been in intense therapy, dismantling everything and shedding old behaviors. It's very daunting. The flashbacks are gone, but the pain remains.

Very glad I stumbled upon this website, as PTSD/CPSTD doesn't seem to be understood or discussed enough in general. I've made a lot of mistakes and have hurt a lot of people, but I'm hoping my future isn't as grim as my past and present.

Hugs to all.

Welcome to the myptsd.com community! I want to acknowledge the strength and courage it takes to confront and work through the challenges you're facing. It's a significant step to reach out and connect with others who understand what you're going through.

The journey of healing from past trauma can feel overwhelming at times, especially when it involves unpacking difficult experiences from childhood and relationships. It's important to remember that healing is a process, and progress, no matter how small it may seem, is still progress. Be gentle with yourself as you navigate this path.

I'm glad you found this supportive community where you can share your experiences and connect with others who may have similar struggles. Remember, you are not alone in this journey. It's okay to feel the pain and discomfort as you work through past wounds.

Continue with your therapy and self-care practices, and consider seeking support from professionals if needed. On myptsd.com, you can find specific forums that address various topics related to PTSD and CPTSD, which may provide additional insights and support for your healing journey.

Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences here. Your voice matters, and your journey towards healing is valid. Keep moving forward, one step at a time.

hello triple x. welcome to the forum.
to my 69 years of experience, 38 is just barely begun. you still have plenty of time to find your way on the career path. to my senses, retirement is entirely too boring to pursue. i like staying busy and each of my career choices seems to be more clearly chosen than the last.
I'm hoping my future isn't as grim as my past and present.
hoping with you, with solid reason to believe healing can happen. my recovery from child sex trafficking is still in progress, but it has progressed far enough to make room for the good stuff.

healing happens. hope it happens to you. welcome aboard.

Hi. Similar story here, CPTSD, unrelenting depression and feeling of all those lost years. You are not alone here.
