Going to be a bridesmaid at best friends wedding

Hey.
So I'm posting my first real post.
I find that I'm pretty unsure about what to post? Like, I'm generally happy to post on other's post so now I'm taking the plunge. -ish.
To cut a really long story really short, I'm in a wedding shortly. As a bridesmaid.
It's my best friend from Kindi and I could not be more happy for her.
I got my ears pierced for the first time today (yay me, went to go find someone to put a sharp thing in my body! Woohoo! What the fk could possibly go wrong!)

Love your attitude!!! You made me smile, and I like that a lot !! It does take courage to step out here. All the 'what if' questions rise and scream. But you did it.. it will get easier, and this is how we become 'a part of' a huge healing community. So kudos for getting out of your comfort zone. Before long, posting will be your comfort zone. Glad you are here. This place and the people here will help to change your life in wonderful ways. Gentle hugs if you accept. If you aren't ready for that, no problem. First thing I thought of when reading about the wedding.. but since you were just posting, didn't want to bring up the dress, just in case!! :D
Happy to know the dress is ok... you didn't say it was pretty!!

It's alright :) I know absolutely nothing about dresses. Dark red, I'm pale and blonde, strapless, heels.
I don't feel very comfortable in it, particularly because it shows my gnarly abuse/self harm scars.
And they're all calling me by my f*cking birth name which I hate with the fire of a thousand suns, despite repeated requests to stop.
But yeah. I think it'll be okay.

I have never been a bride's maid in all my sixty something years, so I can only guess what you are going through. Enjoy the earrings! Oh, and don't go without them for more than your nighttime sleep, or the holes will close up! It is possible to get an earring through still, but it takes a lot of patience and hard work! Enjoy the wedding!

I won't claim to be the resident expert on bridesmaid dresses but I have been forced to watch more than my share of "Say Yes to the Dress" and Bridzillas with my daughter who has been going through a dirth of always a bridesmaid never a bride and I have to say that while bridesmaid dresses are meant to be hideous. But the bride doesn't want to be outshone and she wants to have the colors that she has always dreamed of in her wedding. Since the bridesmaids are usually friends they are all beautiful in their own right but lets be honest the goal is uniformity in color and style not whether it is flattering to all the bridesmaids. If you are luck one bridesmaid looks good in the color another the style and if really lucky one looks good in both so no your dress isnt hideous, but if it was for the honor of being a bridesmaid would you ever really buy that dress for yourself.

Go enjoy the wedding and all that it involves you are best friends and you want to be their for her.
