Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends up north.

I did not even realize before that it is a different day for you! So, now I want to know more! Are the traditions similar? Is it Turkey Day for you too? Are the food traditions similar with pumpkin pie, turkey with "stuffing"? Is it a holiday that means virtually all businesses are closed?

Have I asked enough questions? :rofl:

I do hope all of you have a day off with food, friends, family!

ISH, yes it is the same for us Canadians ! lol...turkey with all the trimmings, family and friends, businesses closed for the day :clap:

Most importantly, this is a day not to dwell on what is not good in our lives but a day to celebrate what we DO have to be thankful about :smile:

Happy Turkey day, Canadians! Tell me what your Thanksgiving Day story is. The American version goes something like :
The people who arrived at Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts had a good harvest the first November that they were there, so they invited a few of the Native American neighbors to share in a celebration meal.

Later, the Europeans who kept arriving in America in droves eventually brought diseases that killed off many of the Natives, the white folks took almost all the Natives' land away from them because the white folks had the guns, the white folks introduced tha Natives to alcohol, but the Natives who were resilient enough to live through the small pox and alcoholism opened big casinos on the land that the white folks allowed them to keep. Payback continues.

Today in the US, some celebrate "Columbus Day" when Columbus "discovered" America. Ask a Native American about that story!

Pretty much the same story up here, minus the Casinos - those are 'shared' with us by the province! ;)

Ahh, I woulda shared my land anyway - put ya all on reservations, went to look at you once in a while, kinda like a zoo....y'know, the way I grew up. LOL.

It was a great Turkey sacrifice and the Gods smiled on us with bright sun, friends, family and warmth. Now, can I celebrate the American version next month too?
