Has Anyone Here Experienced Ayahuasca?

I think just connecting with nature on an ongoing basis can be immensely healing...but I am curious to know how aya would help me. I've dealt with a lot of me demons already so I can't really see it being a hellish experience, which I've heard reports about from others who have been forced to face their demons. It's a scary thing, the growth process, and pushing past resistance to change...even without plant medicine.

I know a young guy who has been training as an ayahuascero for the past 6 years, and has committed to continue his training in the forest with peruvian shamans. He told me some pretty interesting stories about trees and plants in the amazon. It's a wild place, for sure.[DOUBLEPOST=1398426197,1398426067][/DOUBLEPOST]Very interesting Ed. Biology was one of my favourite subjects at school. I'm always glad to hear scientists who are open minded enough to take a different approach towards medicine. Emergency physician...does that entail being available for situations where patients are brought in by ambulance for immediate attention?[DOUBLEPOST=1398426371][/DOUBLEPOST]I worked with microbiologists a couple of years ago at an std clinic (of all places) :D They're an interesting lot.

I am 34 soon to be 35 on May 9th. In 2001 I wrote a term paper entitled "An examination of gene therapy for HIV treatment" No doubt if I were to ever embark on that line of research the drug companies would hinder that also as you can not patent a gene and antiretroviral drugs make billions of dollars for the pharmaceutical companies. Although I think I found a permanent solution to HIV.

Wow...that's exciting. I hope you're right. They're saying cannabis oil and ayahuasca can also be effective treatments for HIV. I haven't heard of anyone with the disease being cured by them though, so far...

So, with this therapy, is it a matter of treating the DNA itself?

Yes, I tend to agree though, unfortunately. They aren't concerned with helping people, and if it can't make them money, then they will do whatever they have to to suppress the information and make sure you are made a laughing stock to your peers.

My idea was to permently block a critical HIV coreceptor, called CCR5, using a technique called " Antisense RNA" The idea of doing that with HIV is very old. My innovation and the difficult part is to make the block permanent...I can not discuss more because I will give up my secret:)

Just to add a mutation in CCR5 is already found in nature amongst some Northern Europeans, who are completely resistant to HIV. I just want to artificially mimic this natural mutation. All of molecular biology comes from nature:)

I have been in Peru and had Ayahusca with and without a shaman for 7 months. The shaman was using other medicinal plants as well. It was very healing, and teaching.

I use Ayahuasca once a week now. I do it alone. It is very cheap and easy to get and prepare by the way, at least where I live, and in the recipe I have.

For me it is healing negativity. Not always easy, as the negativity emerges and being cleaned. It also give me clarity and insight about directions I need to take in life. It also helps develop positive qualities such as faith. Besides being a very meaningful experience for itself.

With that being said, I don't expect Ayahuasca to be the only cure for me, and to my traumas and difficulties. I also use other medicinal plants daily.(Passionflower leaves, Rosemary, Lemon balm)

I would recommend to first use it with a guide. Although I know there are people who do it by themselves. It might be risky though for some people to do it alone, as the experience can be overwhelming. And like other substances you should know how to take it. I take moderate doses, and I sing so not to get carried away by negativity.

I can give more detailed information if necessary.

I have a Transpersonal background in art therapy, so that might explain where I stand on certain subjects like this.

I'm afraid this doesn't explain anything for me.

I have a transpersonal approach and use art therapy a lot. I'm not sure what that has to do with mainstream or illegal medication. To me, no connection at all.

In fact, to me personally a transpersonal approach means that I would seek internal solutions more than external ones. Any kind of drug being an external one. I would much rather work with my consciousness without chemicals.

Maybe it's different for other people and if so then fair enough. I only want to say that I don't think transpersonal/art therapy is any explanation of where someone would stand on subjects like this.
