It has helped me tremendously! I started going to a class several times a week with my T & I can't expl...

Interesting. I had my first trauma sensitive class this week and at first I felt like getting up and running out the door. I don't know why but I could not sit on the chair but only on the mat. If I closed my eyes I started dissociating so it was nice to be reminded that whatever felt most comfortable was totally ok. I felt like crying for the first half and felt a bit unsettled for the rest of the day. Therapy is at a bit of a standstill for me too. It's very weird. I have all the symptoms of trauma but no real understanding of what's caused it.

Stick with it! It does get hard sometimes when things come up. & it's scary at times. Just remember to breathe with it! It's helped me so much with learning to stay present.

Am wondering if Tai Chi might also have the potential to be triggering... Have been doing it for a month now and I absolutely love it. But I have noticed an increase in body memories, nightmares and a couple of ticks that I tend to get when things are stirred up...

@Bearlinda based on how I felt after one session I wouldn’t be surprised. The trauma sensitive yoga class is all about developing a sense of safety in the class and in your body. So choice and pacing is everything. That was the thing that stopped me running out the door. The teacher kept things moving and was constantly reminding us to do what felt right for us. So you could choose to hold a position or move as quickly or slowly as you like or do something completely different or just sit quietly. Towards the end she did 10 seconds of silence BUT reminded us how difficult this may be for some of us and we could count to 10 in our heads like she would be doing. I got to 10 in about 5 seconds I think lol

Your class sounds really great @MyWillow Glad you found it and the teacher does sound good and sensitive :-)
I've been practising meditation for a whole now so I can handle the silence now - I used not to be able to handle it at all! :p
Hmm I shall keep an eye out so to speak on my symptoms and see how I get on. My next class is tonight.
I do love it so I hope I can find ways that work for me.
