I hope so too. I disagree with you. I think you have gained a lot of insight - otherwise you wouldn't be posting your story or admitting that anything ever happened. People who have never experienced ptsd don't believe it's real. It doesn't make sense therefore it must not be. I used to get really angry about it and at them, now I just stay quiet and know that they're missing out on a lot of valuable lessons and insight themselves.

Don't sell yourself short.

Welcome.

I think the label just helps people know what you are.

The responses to sufferers are different than the responses to supporters which are different from the responses to other (usually health professionals). I see it as a guide for others to know how to respond, what you're looking for, etc.

Hi @EveHarrington
Good point Eve. I'm really not sure where I fit into this. I had started a thread simply as a new introduction - using "other" as a prefix. I'm really enjoying this forum. I find it encouraging and a genuine desire to help and/or encourage others in their healing process. Empathy towards those who so desperately need it. I have PTSD and am working hard to heal. I have a really good therapist who has been walking with me from the beginning. I don't want to use "sufferer" as a prefix simply because I'm trying to focus more on a survivor. A victim absolutely, suffering through it, yes. But really not sure what other prefix I would use. Your point is valid though. What would you suggest?

@stp2012 - I know you didn't ask me, but I agree with @EveHarrington - it is helpful for members to quickly identify whether one has suffered/is suffering from PTSD, or is supporting, is undiagnosed, or here for some other reason. If you'd like yours changed - you can report your own post and add a note, or start a thread in the help desk.

@Chris78 - welcome!

Welcome to the forums :hug: I hope this place helps you. It's very useful because of the bulk amount of people who feel similar and understand. There is a lot of advice and support to be found here :) I hope that this amazing community helps you as much as it helped me, reading all the similar stories, and learning a lot along the way. Hugs if you accept :hug:
