hey everyone. I'm a teenager from the USA, and I'm pretty sure I have PTSD.
I wont go into it because I don't wish to trigger anyone, but I've been having issues related to my experiences with sexual assault and rape.
It's been getting worse, and to the point where its getting kind of scary (coming from someone who was already diagnosed with anxiety, and who has hallucinations).
So while I wait to be able to get into the doctor (not just for ptsd, but also to check for std's and such), I figured I'd join a community where people have experience with PTSD. I may not post often out of shyness, but even for the resources and reading other peoples stories, I feel like it will help me.
At this point, I just want to be the best person I can be, and be confident in my own skin. My ultimate goal is to take myself and my identity back from those who've hurt me, and be the person I want to be. I would, in the future, love to be able to show them that they don't have any control over me. But that'll be a long road.
As far as I myself go, I like dogs, sweaters, Lady Gaga, and the show Supernatural. There are more, or course, but those are my main things right now. I have a service dog, but as he ages, I hope to get a new one who's a little more intimidating (I love my dog, but he's a rat terrier, and if the paranoia insists, a german shepherd or an american bulldog would make me feel a little safer). Of course a service dog can't be trained to be aggressive, but having a 88lb dog watching your back tends to feel more secure than an 18lb one.
I also have a cat, a crested gecko, a mouse, and a hamster- one could say I have an animal problem, but caring for them gives me a little bit of a purpose.
And if I can graduate high school, I'm hoping to go to school for cosmetology and become a makeup artist in the future-and while its a cliche, perhaps even join a traveling circus.
But thats enough on me and my life.
I hope you have a good day, whoever may read this.
see ya around!
