Just found this forum and am so grateful. Been in therapy this round for about 10months, she's been more helpful than any other therapy I've been in - possibly because I'm ready now. Diagnosed with PTSD - she refers to it as Complex but I know this is not according to DSM.

I'm married, pregnant with my first child, a foster carer and work full time as a Counsellor in a High School. I'm very happy - I love the life I'm creating - I just want the nightmares, triggers, dissociation, panic attacks, flashbacks... etc to stop. I want my past to stop interfering with my present.

Looking forward to learning and processing with you all.

Hi Paidfor,

Welcome to MyPTSD forum!

Are you currently or have you in the past seen a trauma counselor? Processing the trauma is one of the best ways to keep the experiences and emotions from bleeding into the present. There is a lot of information on this site about trauma processing and symptom management. I hope you find it helpful.

Hi Barconian... I'm sure you were trying to be helpful but I feel your response is patronizing.
How is patience patronizing? It simply means that the ability to wait for someone or something without being angry or upset is a good and valuable quality. This phrase has been dated back to William Langland in the year 1377.

I never said patience was patronizing. I said your response was.
