I was also young when I first got diagnosed. I am sorry that you went through that. But glad that you had the sense to reach out for help, that shows a lot about you. I waited a year before I got help, but thankfully not any longer. :)

We are pretty supportive on this forum and understanding. There are many of us with lots of kinds of abuse. Start by reading the 'sticky' threads on the tops of the forums, those are very helpful.

My mistake - I'm actually not officially diagnosed. My therapist doesn't do a whole lot of diagnosing, and I'm still relatively new to her.

It is good to meet all of you, thank you for being so welcoming!

I would strongly recommend you get officially diagnosed, as PTSD is a serious illness and just because you have a history of abuse does not mean you have PTSD. In fact, many do not develop PTSD.

Maybe you can be one of the lucky ones.

I have discussed it with my T, and she has chosen to treat me as though I do have PTSD without focus on further official diagnosis due to the brief time I will be able to be in therapy before I move out of state. I don't necessarily agree with this decision, but I understand her reasoning.
