I'm anxious constantly and not sleeping well. My Human Rights hearing comes up on April 4th. It's taken about a year and a half to get to this point. Now that it's so close I feel like I'm falling apart. All those bad negative thoughts keep coming up.

How do you keep yourself sane when going through a stressful time? Any thoughts very much appreciated. Thanks

You will feel like this when I reported my rape to the police I was so stressed try to ground your self listen to some calming music I cuddle my teddy when I'm stressed you will find the more your strees the less your sleep if ya need to chat messeage me

MASSIVE self care. An embarrassment of self care. Self care on steroids.

Meaning...

- If I ordinarily have to take a day off before/after certain things? Plan on taking 2-3 days off.
- If I ordinarily have to take an hour to shift gears between 1 thing and the next? Plan for a day.
- If an hour of exercise keeps me pretty level headed? Plan on 4 hours.
- If I have emergency meds I touch occasionally? Plan on daily or near daily.
- If my eating/sleep is already irregular? Force it. Set an alarm if Inhave to, or it will become non-existent.
- If I'm using, on a 1-10 scale, my low to midLevel coping mechanisms? Start doing my mid to high level coping mechanisms. BEFORE I need them. (Like pain killers staying ahead of pain actually equates to using lower doses less often than if the pain gets ahead of you.)

Et cetera.

In my experience? When there's a fawking big stressor coming? It won't be enough. Things are still going to go sideways for awhile. Planning for that helps, too. Cook ahead, or plan on ordering in or getting a bunch of frozen stuff to zap. Have someone come in to clean. Pay rent in advance, ditto any other bills. Take some time off work &/or responsibilities. Don't make big plans. Don't make big decisions. Try to have as much fun as possible.

Lot of self care & indulging the insanity in safe ways, so it doesn't spill over everything else and stays in the corridors for it.

Basically giving myself time and space to soothe, and time and space to rave & rage & be whatever flavor of emotional I am right now, separately and privately.

For me music helps, crying out the feelings, chatting on here.

Practice deep breathing and try to do stuff that you would normally help you

It's a very tough you are in...

I hope it passes okay

Sorry I haven come back to this post. Between power outages and getting ready for this hearing it's been crazy. Thanks for all your great ideas.

My company has gave me a few offers which I have refused. I've waited this long for the Human Rights hearing, might as well go all the way. I'll be terrified but oh well I have PTSD what would they expect me to be like.

My sister will be there for support. I know I have a good case and I'm sure they'll all treat me respectfully there. I do not have to give testimony in front of my employers because they are witnesses so that eases the stress a little.

Only two weeks to go

You so got this. It's never as bad as I think it could be. Lots of self-support, lots of help from others, lots of personal space.

I believe in flying colors for you on this. Flying colors.
