Hi Ken,

Glad you came to a decision that will ultimately work for you. I know how hard it was for you to take.

In life, we all have to deal with choices that often scare us...but in the end....we always go with what is best for us at a particular time in our lives.

Your time has come to go for, in your words, "a better quality of life" :)

Hope the bid goes in your favour :)

Frankie

I, too, am happy to hear you were able to make this difficult decision.

I do know that, when I changed jobs, it took a while to get over my second guessing as to the decision. It took a while before I kind of fully accepted that I did the right thing.

Although I don't think that I had anything near the sense of brotherhood you describe, it was still an adjustment to change to the new work relationships. Again I would say that although you will change stations, you are still who you are. You are still a public servant with years of service and experience.

Best of luck as this process continues.

I wish you well, in your choice. I know how much of a tough decision this must have been for you. I know myself, that I love my work, but it's also tough and triggering at times. I didn't get my PTSD as a result of working as a paramedic, but trying to get the work balance right is a constant issue. You do an amazing job, with an amazing team. This will continue, wherever you work, but hopefully the move will make life a bit easier for you. Ultimately it's important to look after yourself, otherwise you will be no good to your colleagues or to those you are trying to save/help.

Regards, CB

Ken,

I just found this thread - sorry or I would have responded sooner. I also wish you well in your choice and sincerely hope that you will be granted your request.

Seems like you made the healthiest choice for YOU. Which is what recovery is all about. Recognizing what you need to do - to keep yourself as healthy as possible.

I'm proud of you for being able to weigh out the pros and cons and come up with an answer.

Well I won't be leaving 9's anytime soon, at least on my feet that is.
Not only did I not get the transfer but now there taking our engine down to 3 guys a day.
So I will no longer have a partner inside with me.
I truly believe I'm meant to die in this shit hole.

I'm really sorry the transfer didn't work out for you. What do you mean you won't have a partner inside with you "2 in 2 out" has been the standard for years; even in rural places?

Ken -

I am so sorry that your transfer wasn't approved. I can't even express clearly how much I was hoping this would be the answer for you. One minute at a time. I'm hoping there is another alternative out there for you.

Thinking of you - please let us know if we can do anything to help you get through this.

That must be very hard - after making a very difficult decision, not to get the transfer. I really feel for you.

Not a lot I can say with advice - except hang on in there. Hopefully there will be a chance for you to transfer in the future.

Firehouse,

I'm sorry you didn't get the transfer.

I had typed a whole response and didn't see that you hadn't gotten it.

Best wishes to you!

Shoka
