New Here
just had a very big flash back that lasted over an hour and I couldn't bring my self back out of it. I was fully disconnected from everything around me. I have come round now but am very shaken, tired, wobbled and have fainted several times. does anyone know what I should do now or what I can do to stop it happening in the future.

I'm afraid that you can't stop them coming back in the future? All you do, ......well what I do, is take a deep breath, get away from what ever environment you are in, try and clear your head and find something to do.

Anything will do, just making a coffee or house cleaning, anything that keeps your brain occupied, even reading will do.

Then after a short time you will be able to tuck that flash back away somewhere in the background of your mind.

Well, that works for me, try it, you never know, it might help, good luck.

and I want them to not be there in later life

If it's a flashback, I wouldn't know how to prevent them. Mine seem to ease the longer I work through therapy. It's just that "blacking out" and "passing out" sounded like the issue could be a medical issue and I would hate to see a medical issue not be found because it was assumed a mental issue, you know?

Grounding is about the best thing to do for flashbacks that I've found. It seems that everyone is different in what works for them but here are several:

Grounding Techniques for Flashbacks and Panic

Can Trauma Lead to Dissociative Disorders?

It's just a flashback - 12 grounding techniques to practice

There are many sites, and many grounding techniques for many things. So to find more google "grounding techniques for flashbacks".

I think the more we learn to ground in the present and deploy coping tools like DBT mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, etc, the more we can reduce the amount of flashbacks we have and possibly stop them.

But, I had mine stopped for months, until my mom died and now they are coming back to back.
