Sufferer Hi Everyone, I'm Numb 90% Most Of The Time

Hi everyone. I just joined the forum and have high hopes for some much needed support and understanding. In addition, I also hope to be able to offer the same in return.

I won't go into the causes of my PTSD right now, as my main intent is just to say hello and say how bittersweet it is to know I and my feelings are not exclusive to just me. I come to you all as once again a single woman as I have once again broken up with a wonderful man, one of the best ever, for an unfair reason. Knowing the underlying reason is I am so numb 90% of the time, it's just easier to be alone.

I am looking forward to gaining insight from those who have "been there, done that". I know the professional advice to us with PTSD, as I was diagnosed in 2004, but no one really understands until they have walked our walk. Thanks in advance for an anticipated warm welcome. Ro

Welcome,
Been there done that, and got the t-shirt. There is some peace to be found when you realize there are others that do same things you do to survive. You can get better from your injuries. It does however take some hard work. I have been getting my feelings back a little at a time over the last 4 years. It can be challenging. Sometimes it is easier to just not feel anything safer too. Good luck on your journey.
Peace

Hi Ro,

Welcome to the PTSD Forum! :)

If you want to connect with people that really understand, you have definitely come to the right place. I hope you find the information and support here helpful as you work on healing. Being numb just steals so much from living and I hope that you find you are able to comfortably feel again.

Take care.

Debbie

Hello Ro, welcome.
It sounds like you understand the psychiatric mumbo jumbo that can be confusing at times and at other's very helpful.

I am sorry that you have lost a relationship you valued deeply and even more sorry that PTSD played it's insidious part in that. But, don't feel your the only one on that road. So many relationships are either stretched to the limit, break down or become incredibly difficult and exhausting to maintain. You will find many members of this Forum have lost their relationship's due to at least some part PTSD. Including my own marriage. But, some do survive with a lot of love and understanding too, more than survive, they thrive. So do not give up hope and the future.

Feeling numb emotionally is a real problem. I experience it as not being able to feel the right feelings in the right place. Such as, someone says a joke, I get the joke but cannot laugh, something incredibly joyous happens and I feel no joy, can express no joy. Something sad happens and though I recognize the event as sad, I don't respond inside or outside as sad. And, that goes for the whole myriad of feelings one can have. Is your feeling of being numb like that? If it is, then I appreciate very much what you are saying.

I can only say that it was a good decision to come to this Forum, search and read the information about PTSD, I mean the facts that on this site and also the experiences of others. Some of their stories might help you feel better in you skin and I have found that other's, well they put the cause of my PTSD into perspective and also, importantly I feel like there is a crowd of people out there, who know what it means to live with PTSD.

Kind regards,
blackemerald1

That it the perfect prototype for "systems" of PTSD. For me it is so ingrained it's sickening.

Talk it out with the members and you might just surprise yourself.

Glad you found this site. As someone who has dealt with the opposite side, or dare I say, the receiving side of someone's PTSD, I have learned so much from these members. Both sides of the story have helped me a lot.

And don't always give up hope with those you've pushed away in the past or recently. If someone really cares and they take the time to learn about PTSD, they could be your best supporter. If you'll let them. Just my own perspective that is....

Good Luck and God Bless!

Just thought I'd ask how your day went?
Thank you so much for taking the time out to follow up and check on me. I am dealing with alot of the physical symptoms that PTSD bring on as a result of the main ones, but I am alive and well. I am going to post my story soon, and I will look forward to your perspective. Hope you are doing well today new friend.
