Hi, I'm new to this forum and just wondered if anyone had any tips on how to tell my therapist fully about my abuse.

Welcome! I wish I could give you advice on that subject but I haven't mastered it myself so anything other than "good luck" would be hypocritical! I will be sending you cyber strength in hopes you find your way along this journey. All I can say is if you have a T that you can trust and that you feel comfortable with, give it a try. Rome wasn't built in a day so don't feel like you have to say it all in an hour. Dip your toe in the water and get the temperature, then decide how and when! Best wishes!!!

Hi Jenny,
Welcome to the forum.

Rumors is right, it is very difficult. Don't expect it to be a quick fix, and say no more in each session than you are comfortable with. Maybe comfortable isn't the right word, as you will find it challenging at times and have to leave your comfort zone - but just by a little bit.

If there is something specific that you want to get out, but just can't find the words, then write it down before you go. If need be you can then hand the page to T to read. They usually don't mind if it helps you past a block.

I never thought I would ever tell anybody, but with gentle coaxing and encouraging T now knows as much as he needs to to guide me in my recovery. He doesn't have the fine details, but said he doesn't need to, and I am not held back by that.

Best wishes,
Lucy x
