well went to the local Veterans of Foreign Wars post for Armed Forces Day yesterday, same day as my birthday. They had a veterans administration representative there and I asked them some questions. Found out I can not go to the va center here until july 1 when I retire even though I am on terminal leave and not near a base and even with PTSD they said no. I started walking away and I was told if it is an emergency then yes. So if I am having an episode I should drive in, really?!?!?!. I was also asked if I was OEF/OIF. I said yes I was operation enduring freedom with joint task force Guantanamo bay(detainee operations), she told me oh no you are not you are just OEF era. I told her well my award that says I was in support of OEF and my Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal begs to differ.

to piggyback off my last comment I was stationed at Joint Task Force Guantanamo Bay Cuba Detainee Operations. On the Veterans Affairs there is a question that asks, Have you served in any Combat theater of operations? Well JTF-GTMO is considered combat theatre since 2006. I was there in 2005, one of the first companies there. What should I put down? This will be for my PTSD that I have already been diagnosed with and now it is up to the VA to say if I have it.
