@gizmo The mobiles sound beautiful. I am hopeful to do 2 terrariums and a auquaponics set up for experimentation. I have to save up money first however. From there I am hopeful to break out my text books and do some water quality studies having purchased some equipment and perhaps explore something called spectrophotometry. Hoping in the future to return to school for forensics in environmental science. Man thanks for sharing your expertise guys and hobbies nice to imagine these beautiful lives. Sometimes we forget what we have you know.

Pretty cool to hear about some of the hobbies that you guys have. I also love to play the guitar but recently dont enjoy it as much as I used too. I read a lot, write poetry, I like to paint(houses and spaces not canvases or anything), that has been a peaceful hobby for me. I haven't found a hobby that takes my mind off anything yet, maybe I should get into sports like @Rez5023 :)

That is wonderful. I in the past also donated plants to charity. We have two very nice charities that...
Oh my that sound s so cool. I really didn't ever get with chemistry but I do have a fascination for physics. The maths I usually do is either mechanical mathematics or geometry. Sports I just tend to stick with football but running usually just takes my mind off things.

I really enjoy cooking and baking. I love finding new healthy recipes and putting something together: I love the simplicity, the creativity, the challenge, the self-care in making a new healthy meal. It's good fun! There's also sometimes nothing nicer than baking up some (healthyish) banana bread.

I also enjoy volunteering, it can be very hard sometimes if I am feeling depressed and overwhelmed myself but it brings a lot and I feel like I am doing something good in the world.

I ADORE music and dancing: nothing can lift me out of myself and a bad mood more than that - it's magic.

I love spending time with my friends, I have struggled with severe low self esteem and depression for a while, but recently overcome a fair amount of that: my kind, fun friends are such a nice haven from my suffering, I feel lucky. Though sometimes I struggle with my sense of aloneness or being different, I even have some friends who have had the same experience.

I quite like doing adult colouring in books., they are calming and I'd like to paint: but I'm sometimes quite judgmental about my lack of talent.

I also like writing, I write for a living and being able to work and do something I am good at is engrossing and makes me feel better in myself - more solid and accomplished. Though sometimes I struggle :).

I also like yoga a lot too and meditation...which I do see as a hobby.

Sorry for any typos - got very bad sleep last night!

@DharmaGirl my s/o has spinal arthritis (and some other issues). I feel for the pain you must be in x

I do what I call "arting", coloring and drawing when my fingers allow, writing short stories, haiku's and poems. Crafting, such as scrapbooks, making candles, decorating/painting glass. I like making quilts on the sewing machine. I can knit, but it's getting hard with the osteo, I read a lot, a bit of everything these days. I play tennis when my shoulder is cooperating. We do a lot of walking and hiking, geocaching. Music is always going in our house.
I miss gardening, the weather this year destroyed most of my seedlings, but that is okay.
I love to cook and bake. I make jams and jellies, applesauce in the fall, spaghetti sauce and the like for canning.
@gizmo I love letter writing as well, when my fingers are able, I send letters to mini, my nieces, some friends. I love the lost art of physical letter writing.
(I want to learn calligraphy)

It is nice reading and learning about everyone's interests and there are a few things that sound like it would be nice to start.

@4melissa this is such a nice post, thank you for starting it :)

My hobbies tend to be obsessive....right now I'm still a Martial Arts freak. My therapist is an Aikido instructor, so last session he gave me a whole hour's private instruction on the Bokken kata (wooden Japanese sword). Now I have a new kata to practice, its a weapon I've ALWAYS wanted to learn, and he's really good at it! Practicing on a new skill is keeping me from completely giving in to Depression right now. I also practice all the kata I know from my style; well, whatever I can do without causing pain to my various sports injuries....

I've been taking my dogs for walks every day, training them on occasion, tending to their skin conditions myself (playing doggie-nurse) and generally having a great time with my pack.

I also love the adult coloring books!

I enjoy getting walking or hiking in the mountains. I used to live fishing in the evenings when I lived in Wyoming, but where I live now I don't have places to fish which are enjoyable.

I enjoy learning new things and exploring places I haven't been. I used to crochet, color, play music, scrapbook and other crafts, but my hand isn't healed up enough to do so.

Love this thread! Right now I am making jewelry and painting designs and flowers on rocks
I crochet. More a winter hobby. Am making an American Flag Afghan for a friend that will get finished when it gets cooler.
I sculpt with Polymer clay, making heads, hands and feet for my Art Dolls. Google it! Also sculpt trolls, dragons, and make abstract wall hangings with odds and ends of fabric, yarns wood and rocks.
Have a couple of Fairy houses that are works in progress. Love making mobiles out of wood and rocks. .
Love all things nature. Have made some focal beads with Polymer clay by pressing flowers or leaves into the clay and then removing the thing I imprinted it with. Made beads with the clay. A very versatile medium.
Do Zentangle and adult coloring books.
I love being retired and after this past year of having a major depression am getting back into getting my hands and brain busy again. .
Can't wait to read what others are doing and love all the things previously mentioned.
My friends look forward to their Bdays as they get hand made surprises.

Wow! I'm so impressed with everyone! Does anyone care to share pictures of what they've done? I want to make mobiles too, and tiles out of polymer clay. There are so many interesting things to do out there, even for chronic pain people too. I thought my life was over when I had to give up nursing, horseback riding and work altogether, but I am making a new life now and I love how you guys (yes, I'm from NJ) have enhanced your lives with wonderful creative things.

I also love adult coloring books. I enjoy working with colored pencils. I'm going to search for some pictures to post.

Seems if we can get our creative mind engaged it helps with the pain.I also have a lot of pain.
Only thing is, I get so involved in what I am doing I don't realize how I set or my posture. Then I look like a Stretch Armstrong doll trying to work out the links !
