I like horror and thrillers quite a bit but, I have to admit those that are fact-based, such as the movie "Ed Gein", deeply disturbed me and I have to be careful which ones I allow myself to watch.

I prefer ghost stories and find horror to be a safe way to explore my fears.

I find the gory ones to be over-the-top and not as satisfying as say, a movie like "The Others" etc.

I have entire collections of old horror movies. I even share a birthday with Lon Chaney, Jr. LOL! Most of them are in black and white, and I especially love the old silent films such as Nosferatu. My theory as to my love of these films is that in the end, the monster always dies. Now if my monster would just have the common decency to die...I just used my outside voice again, didn't I? :sorry:

Ah, same here @Werewoman; I only love that kind of horror movies, where the monster in my case it's werewolves and Alien 1-4 dies in the end. I hate the ones, where they're not able to erase the monster from this world for good. I also love movies like Dracula, dead and loving it.

What I try to avoid though, are movies with demonic / satanic themes. As I believe, they're not healthy for me (and others). Reason: Many times during the last 20 years, I detected, that, as soon as I'm watching, or try to watch such kind of movie, my animals start to rebel (growl, bark, etc.) against this certain kind of movie. Even when I try to watch them, wearing headphones, my dogs and other animals started / start to growl, and they then immediately leave the room where I'm (trying to) watch such a movie. I truly believe, they (the animals) have a much better feeling as to what's good and what's unhealthy / dangerous...

Wow @TreeHugger. I had a cat once who was sensitive to earthquakes but never my horror movies. Lol!
I'm with you though, the satanic ones are too disturbing for me. Frankenstein, Wolfman, The Creature From the Black Lagoon....all classics. I'll also watch anything with Boris Karloff, Christopher Lee, Vincent Price, Lon Chaney and Jr., and Peter Cushing. I also love the works of Alfred Hitchcock, Rod Sterling, and M. Night Shaymalan (sp?). There's others as well...I could go on all day.

I used to love horror movies. One of my favorites is The Lost Boys. I also like a recent straight to video one called "trick r Treat",

However, when it comes to watching horror movies I am limited. I can't watch movies with too many moving, flashing images. I also can't really watch on a big screen. I watch them on a laptop.

I also kind of find the Horror boring. Go through a month of multiple daily panic attacks and nothing seems that scary anymore.

I'm a fan of all kinds of horror and suspense movies! Mostly older ones, I love all those actors you mentioned especially Vincent Price in House on haunted hill and House of wax! I also like Psycho, Halloween 1-2, The Shining. And who could forget the original George Romero zombie movies?! I like suspense mostly for some odd reason... but don't like many remakes! :P
