Hot - In The Uk, Hot, And... Ugh!

Thunder and lightning at 9 this morning in Edinburgh. Which lead to a beautiful sunny afternoon. Now we're back to thunder and lightning. It's so hot I fear my brain may melt. Now the rain has come it's so pretty I want to go outside in it to cool down... better not in case I get struck by the lightning ;).

I read some article that was like "people are choosing to have their holiday at home this year", but I reckon people are too hot or skint to book a holiday elsewhere :rolleyes:.

I have went from hating all the grey days, to wishing it wasn't so sunny because people go mad in Scotland with the sunshine, to wishing for some rain, so I'm happy. Why can't it be sunny but a more comfortable temperature? The street is flooded here!

Feel :( for the people experiencing higher temperatures which are making things melt. That is insane. Were we not all discussing the snow crisis a while back :D? I complained then there was no grit. I hope they don't use all the 2013 UK winter allowance of grit for this summer ;).

I can see why the green and pussy eye was a successful signora repellent Hashi! and the advantages. Sounds interesting...

Rainydaze, Edinburgh is one of my favourite cities. It;s hard to imagine it baking hot though! And I can only imagine what a shortage of grit would be like there. It was bad enough in London. And then we had ice on the track of course...

I swear that London railtracks are a delicate and temperamental specie. The need to stop when cold, and hot, and if a leaf floats in their direction. In fact they seem to melt or freeze with little provocation.

And they say that us Brits complain about the weather too much! What about London railway tracks?

I counted my blessings reading this thread, because no roads were melting here. They're just covered in potholes :rolleyes:.

The leaf comment made me :roflmao:.

I'm noticing people look tanned as opposed to bright red and sunburnt now, which is good. I don't know why people don't bother with sunscreen, it's so silly.

The temperature here has been perfect. I would like it to stay this way for as long as possible. I have welcomed the rain too, made a nice change. Give it a week of raining and I'll start a thread to moan about that :laugh:.

Has everyone cooled down now?

I'm blissed out with rain and no sun! Sorry, just don't do summer.

I did get "umbrella arm" today - when the pouring rain soaks the bits of you that aren't actually covered by the umbrella, including key parts of the arm holding it. But I don't care. It's c.o.o.l.e.r.

Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!! :eek::arghh;

Apparently it is coming back though... :nailbiting: I think they are forecasting 37. There will be one unhappy camper right here.
