How do you keep your hair? (men and women)

OP here. I have long silver gray hair, which still hints at my original color, which was light brown. I like to get it trimmed every 2-3 months. In the proper light, it looks pure silver. People compliment me on it often. I usually wear it down, and free, no clip or anything. It is almost completely straight, only slightly wavy near the ends, if the air is humid. Very manageable. Sometimes folks ask me if I straighten it. That always surprises me! I had not even known that one could straighten hair until the first time I was asked that. I love seeing other women wear their hair long too. I think it is so graceful.

For you guys, I love longish hair on a man. Lately, though, I have been admiring the really short cuts that some of you have been wearing. Also, I love mustaches and beards. Really, almost any kind of cut looks good on you!

I’ve cut it every way styled it every way and had almost every color other than neon colors! My favorite color was bleach blonde almost white, but it was hard to maintain, but I loved it because I could dye it pastel pink as much as I wanted. Right now it’s my natural color a light brown/dirty blonde with auburn in it and cropped in a pixie. My hair longer than my chin gives me anxiety. I tried growing it long again but it was bad and I chopped it short and dyed it red haha. I’ll probably keep it this way for a while!

Mine is longer than it's ever been...more thin than thick...mostly straight with a few kinks here and there, and some frizz at times, depending on the weather....not quite waist length when down, but damn close....brownish with many "wisdom highlights" (lol)...a.k.a. gray/grey.

I used to spend so much money on getting it permed/colored/highlighted and am probably responsible for at least half of the ozone layer being depleted by all the hair spray/other products I used, most especially back in the big hair days.

Now I simply wash it, occasionally condition it, sometimes use an apple cider vinegar rinse (no, I don't smell like a pickle...the smell leaves as it fully dries), sometimes add various oils like rosemary/castor, either twist it and clip it on top of my head, do a side pony tail or a side braid, or just let it hang free and do its thing.

I love how it looks when I twist it and clip it while it's still damp and let it dry like that...whenever I have the patience to wait it out...once I undo the clip it looks like it's been styled professionally....until I use my portable a/c (spritzer bottle filled with water) and muck it all up again. lol

I'm curious how many of you dye your hair? Who likes theirs with its natural color, even gray?

Also...

I have gray in my hair. It is long- I think a bit of henna dye would be nice-not a rainbow color- something more natural. Been by about getting fome

I have long thick hair- love a French braid!

Neat topic! I didn’t even know I was curious before now!

My hair is thick and blond. Russian hair :P It’s got some red highlights that show up in the sun, from my mother’s (American) side of the family. It’s curly usually, sometimes a bit straighter but if I brush it right, it’s all curls. Not wavy.

I’ve thought about getting it cut short because I don’t like hair in my eyes, and if I’m in the lab it feels a bit like a liability. Usually at work I tie it back, but loosely unless I’m in a laboratory setting.

But I haven’t cut it short because I’m proud of the way it looks long, when it’s down. Which is the other way I wear it, if I’m not doing much or want to look nice.

I’ll never dye it, despite being curious about other hair colors. Haircut people (I forgot the word) tell me I should never get it cut short nor colored, so I go with that! It’ll probably go white when I’m older, judging by my older family members, and I’ll be happy about that too. Or, if not, maybe I’ll finally indulge in color!

I’ve had some people tell me that I don’t look gay BECAUSE of my long hair, so that’s another reason to keep it long :P

This is a fun topic to read, now I’m curious about all y’all hair, lol. Thanks, @SpiritSong!

I keep my hair a little bit above my shoulders. I usually cut it myself. My hair grows really unevenly and it's curly, so I don't think that paying for a trim is worth it. I do go and get some layers put in every so often. I think my hair's texture looks best at that length. It gets tangled constantly if I let it grow longer.

My hair is black. I've started getting more grays in the last few years. I only died it once when I was in high school.

99% of the time -right now- it’s in a French Twist / Chignon stabbed through with whatever is handy... pencil, candy thermometer, chopsticks... or a pony tail / braided ponytail. To get it the f*ck up outta my way. Right now it’s about elbow length. I’ll probably be cutting it to my collarbones -again- fairly soon. Colourwise I’m pretty boring. It’s dark. Dark blonde to dark brown. Curly as hell, I usually blow it out straight or do the beachy wave thing. I like being able to run my hands through my hair, and put it up/take it down. Can’t do that with ringlets.
