Bedroom door open so I can hear dogs easily if they bark downstairs. Lights out but leave tv on low all night-cant sleep without it. I have had a real set back though, not falling asleep until dawn. Just got a script for xanax to sleep and am catching up on sleep, but unfortunately, very few nights til dawn. Then I sleep from 12-14 hrs. Very screwed up. But then again, my assault happened middle of the night and symptoms are back.

I sleep with my bedroom door closed, the closet door open; and I can't shut the closet door because there's stuff in the way- but I'm scared of the closet door.

I have to have a window open and a fan on (even if its snowing outside.. then I have the window cracked only about an inch). I can't feel "locked" in anywhere, I have to be able to feel like I can escape if I have to (sounds silly just typing it). I can't sleep with sheets tucked in either or a sleeping bag zipped up. I also can't snuggle or be touched when I sleep. I watch people who fall asleep in each others arms and think it looks like it might be nice and very loving. But hearing someone else's breathing or feeling their body heat makes me unable to relax enough to fall asleep.

Front and backdoor are very closed, bolted even.
The rest of the doors in the house I prefer open apart from my son's bedroom.
My dog and me must be able to hear anything going on and jump to action when needed.

I sleep first of all, with the help of Melatonin. When I goto bed, I normally sleep with my door opened and preferably dark blinds. As well, I need some 'white' noise background or I'll awake to any noise or crack that occurs.

I sleep with a nightlight, and the door open, the bathroom and the closet closed. We have shades but they are open and I get the light of a street light coming in. I sleep good. It has made a difference having a nightlight. I need that. I do not wake up in the middle of the night anymore, I used to wake up at 2 am everymorning like clockwork. I am glad those days are all over. I have a hard time waking up in the morning though because I get early morning anxiety.

How do you mean 'early morn anxiety', Gizmo? I do also have night lights, but more for the kids. I'd be okay I think if I didn't have any. I'm not one to get up often thru the night. Last cpl months, I have been waking up before my alarm more than usual. Like @ 5 am, when alarm's set for 7...

Bedroom door open, all other rooms shut off, kitchen light on, earplugs in but I can still hear most everything and I know my dogs/Husband sleep very lightly so not too worried. I rarely sleep more than a few hours during the first few hours then I'm up and down. I have adjusted to be on ground level though it's not my favorite.

I need complete darkness. However, I leave the door open partially because the cat is always on the wrong side of a closed door--and he's vocal about it.
