How Do You Stay Present In Therapy?

I noticed that the written exercise above that I included, has a part missing. It is on the mp3 audio, though. This probably happened
because the author, Roy Masters, has made improvements in his meditation, along the way.

In any case, I would like to add that the missing part was thinking about the middle of the forehead, like your entire being is sitting there (eyes remaining level, not upwards when closed) while also being aware of the throbbing/tingling in your fingers, is even more helpful. It almost feels like your forehead and fingers are connected.. Roy Masters explains that the image of sitting in your forehead was added because the front middle part of your forehead is where thoughts come from..

Take Care, Tija

I talked with my T about zoning out and he said there's no way I can really stop it , that it's a defense mechanism. He said I should let myself zone out.

In my last session, he was pretty firm with me to keep me talking and it actually helped and I only zoned out for the last 10-15 minutes.

Hi Jadebear - My T says the same as yours. He's stoped asking where I was going after it became pretty clear I was just falling blank. Now he just lets me, occasionally looking at the thoughts that triggered the dissociative reaction.

Like you I really dislike sitting blank for a huge chunk of my precious session, I want to plow on but as was said earlier it seems my sub-concious isn't quite as keen as my concious just yet

I think though (personally) my pretty unrealistic expectations of just how quickly I'd make progress once I was in therapy really used to add to my frustration with it all!
