Had a massive amount of swelling still. Was standing at a pile of washing making myself useful doing some folding.
Heard a noise like water running, looked down and there was a stream of brownish red shit pissing our of the corner of one of the stitches. WTF. For the first time in my life I had no idea what to do. So I applied pressure and rang Margaret.
Apparently the swelling was an internal build up of crap. Rang the MD and they said to let it ooze.

no I am not a Deutschlander but they came and jumped at Bragg years back when I was stilla young soldier. I got to go through a mini German Airborne School and then I got to jsump twice with their jumpmasters out of their airplanes.....and then I got their wings pinned on me in the field after the second jump and then I got some weird orders in German a while after that and a friend of mine who had been stationed there let me know that they were orders from the German Government and the German Army giveing me oermnission to wear their jumpwings on my uniform (but the US Army only ever let me wear them on my Class A's or Dress Blues)....so that is the whole sordid tale. I am not the only woman to have German Jumpwings but I am damn sure one of the few....yippee for me, hey?

Have you been able to take a shower these last days.If not you're probably pretty ripe by now. Reminds me of the good old days on my first ship. Run out of water one day out....no showers for a week. 1000 men stinking to high heaven. Smelled like a cattle ship by the time we got back to port. Ahhh good times, good times.

A week. Mate, I was Army. We used to go out on training exercises and not shower for 3 or 4 weeks. Some people have gone longer.
Some snipers will be in hides for a long time and they have to carry their shit and everything with them.

No mate, the shit that came pouring out was brown/dark red ooze. Am going to the Doc's on Monday. It will either have to be drained properly, or they will leave it be. I am more worried about a post surgical infection.

I guess the difference being, residing in the great outdoors or sleeping 6 high in a 400 person berthing along with the landlubber pukers. I think we only did 10 days max without water. They used to blanket party non-bathers when I was in, that or drag them into the shower and scrub the hell out of them. Reflecting, I guess the Navy was like floating prison with pay.

I had a rack mate who didn't bathe on one ship. Only washed his head..... and listened to Milli Vannilli endlessly very loud on his walkman for 6 months straight...... And people wonder why i'm a little bonkers.

Do you start to get critters after 4 weeks out?? Fleas suck. Some bastard got crabs on my first ship and it started to spread like wild fire due to close sleeping quarters. Had to fumigate the whole damn berthing.

Hey Wagon, I spent 4 weeks on one of our ships. Probably a baby compared to yours, but sleeping 10 feet up with a belt around your guts to stop you sliding out was no fun.
Watching your cereal move from side to side in the breakfast bowl did not help with the seasickness. lmao.
I don't know how you could do it for years.

Mate, you don't get critters. Nothing could live in your clothing after 4 weeks. My ex-wife would not even wash them.
Most of the guys washed them at work and showered and changed before going home.

Most of the time you had bird baths, but on some occasions you did not have the luxury. Its pretty bad when you can smell yourself though.

Anyway, I am glad you are feeling better as I am too except from the big hole in my leg

Femalevet I may be able to help you with this as I ended up with gangrene in my thigh thanks to bad treatment by a practitioner and could have lost my life if a friend did not step in and force me to go to the hospital (as I trusted the doctor was doing the right thing). I had the tests done at night, the next morning I received a phone call to go straight to the hospital and had surgery the same day. I ended up with a hole in my leg which looked like a shark bite and have since had some plastic surgery to fill it but I still have about a 15cm scar.
