How I Am Feeling

Hey Jimmy. Yeah. Being cargo is never fun unless it involves swimming pools and drinks with little umbrellas. And even that is a stretch for myself these days.

I had Sea Colic twice in abt 8 years at sea total. The last time was the worst. Had to work a 12 hour watch through it all. Not sure how I made it. 4 weeks of sickness I can't imagine. Truth be told, I generally loved rough weather.

Used to know people who would go green the minute we caste off. Hope thats not you brother.

Nah, I love fishing and boating. But sometimes its rough enough to even churn the best of us's stomach.
They reckon if you can see the horizon when you first get on the boat, your body can adjust.
What do you think about that???

Well. I think there is some sense to it. All to do with your inner ear and sense of balance. your stomach plays a part as well. Both times i had the sea sick it started off with some minor indigestion before hitting the rough seas. I have also heard eat a big breakfast before you go out. But stay away from greasy stuff.

It can also just be in your head, like allot of other things can. The little patch can work wonders....placebo or real. Also there is a bracelet you can wear. It hits two pressure points on your wrist and I've seen it work in the worst of cases for people.

I took a Christmas cruise from Helsinki to Tallinn awhile back. Full gale with full Christmas feast provided. The dining room on the bow was moving like an amusement park ride. No crew in sight......they knew. I was pretty pissed when i got there and sat down. Felt like I was on LSD. Vomit and food flying everywhere.

Those bracelets. They were flogging them off to all the sportsmen. They rekon they were hitting two pressure points and also helped them with balance.
Since then they have been proved a sham. They have had to advertise that there is no medical proof.
Most of it was placebo. After all the mind is an amazing organ. I wish we could tap into the distant recesses of our minds and get rid of PTSD.
I watched a documentary on that Dr Carter who was the first surgeon to seperate those siamese twins joined at the head. They said in that, that you could stimulate a part of the brain on a 60 year old and trigger memories of something they read 40 years before.

Ahh yes. That's the problem with the placebo effect. The minute someone sows the seeds of doubt.... its over. They sell the hell out of them in Scandinavia.

Brain research is coming along, but not entirely fast enough. Accessing memory is good. Accessing the exact memory, that would be awesome.

Hey did you know the world was supposed to end yesterday. Jesus was supposed to show up. f*cking missed it again!
