This is my first poll so I hope I do this right. It dawned on me how many hours I lose per day dealing with PTSD in one way or another. This includes insomnia (inability to fall asleep, waking up in the middle of the night, etc.), flashbacks, replaying memories over and over, dealing with side effects of medication, or actively working on healing (like reading this forum or writing in a journal), or whatever else you deem to fit in this category.

(Not including sleep, just because I don't know how to quantify that)

  • Right now it's about 5-10 hours, with the occasional loss of days & weeks.
  • A year and a half ago it was 10-20 hours, with the consistent loss of weeks & months.
LOL. So pretty much all day. But both a whole helluva lot of variation in what individual days look like (roller coaster much?), and a lot of improvement if I take a step backwards and look at the overall. Which I have to do fairly regularly, because I'm pissed off & impatient & tired. :P Such a lovely combo there. Doing better. Still feel like hell. I'd like to raise the bar up off the damn sand one of these days.

It varies. Sometimes none sometimes several. During my worst times (years ago before medication) I would have lose days to ptsd symtoms - mostly due to emotional flash backs, dissociation and nightmares.

Right now about four to five but I lose shit ton of time processing after & trying to distract myself from it & dragging myself back to present because a lot of drag-me-back methods just aren't good enough to my taste. :cautious::banghead:

It was easier losing ten or more, because then I was just happy I'm back in the present, basic self care did for oomph awesome & this is so great, let's enjoy it.

So good to see standards on grounding is something to work on / ease up at.

Scary is that the 'new normal' is now a relative state. Compare to before and after, no one would buy the after product. :D I hate accepting this 'after', a sliding scale of functioning way below the limbo bar. Not more flexible, bent. Apologies dark humor today.

Most hours of most days. Some periods of almost before. Brief, and the fall back down is wanting to rise, and will to keep on rising.

Depends on how I'm looking at it... If I'm alone, mainly whole day... If I am working, then i cannot call it a full loss... But I really lose a lot of time lately, even days

I actually don't have much PTSD symptoms unless I'm really triggered but I have HIGH anxiety and OCD. Half the time I also have depression but that goes up and down.
