General How Well Do You Sleep, As A Supporter

Well I thought I would be out like a light last night but no - Husband ended up in a "fug" - not sure how that will translate!!! Muttering to himself, everything I did I was doing deliberately to **** him off etc etc so I spent most of the evening trying to bring him out of it. I just couldn't bear to be dragged down to that level again. So my mind was racing again by the time we went to bed. I woke up and it wasn't even midnight! Managed to drop off in the end though and slept until 6:30am.

I wonder if I could hire out my "magic quilt cover"?

I used to be able to sleep through the apocalypse. When he had his relapse my sleep went in the crapper and hasn't really come back out. He snores, has nightmares, and some nights the baby is up every two hours. Not sure exactly how I function this way, but I do.

well, my man's EMDR sessions seem to be kicking in well. The result, very disturbed sleep as all the memories locked away for years are flooding back during sleep time.I long for a night of uninterrupted sleep. He doesn't wake up but I do and when I tell him the moans and groans he makes he doesn't believe me. However, a sleepless night I can cope with if I know his brain is helping him to deal with past traumas. I may not be saying that in another month's time though when sleep deprivation kicks in and I'm ratty as hell :-)

Since Christmas I have been dropping off to sleep a lot easier most nights. This is all thanks to hubby buying me a Kindle for Christmas. I can now read in bed without disturbing him with the light on.

OK vampire stories may not be everyone's idea of good bedtime reading, but they are doing the trick. A trilogy of books written by a friend, which are very good and the "Cant put them done" type.

Hubby still wakes me up through the night with his nightmares and flashbacks, but dropping off is a lot easier now.

Well, it's the day after my mans weekly EMDR session and as usual we both had the worst nights sleep. Him dreaming, mumbling and thrashing around. Me waking up and then waking him on various occasions! We are almost there on getting the spare room cleared, just need to get a sofa bed for it then I can sneak in there every Thursday night to get a good slept. I have a problem though....should I stay in 'our' bed on Thursday nights do I am there to wake him up when he is having a bad dream? I think we need to talk about it when he gets back from work later!

Oh, and Amethist, I also got a Kindle fire for Christmas and I agree, they are great for solving the light problem when you are both on bed. They're great :-)

Last nights sleep was a disturbed one.

Hubby had dreams and nightmares on and off all night, having to get up with him at one point.

Just throwing out the comment that if anyone is having sleep issues as a Supporter, there have been lots of good ideas throughout this thread. First, know that you are by no means alone in this issue, but also that there are suggestions here that actually can help.
