Not many of us with PTSD have good support people who are willing to stand by us through the hard parts of this illness.

Thank you safenow, though it has not always been easy.

There were times in the past when I could have given up and walked away, but he has always done something in the end to help himself. He has not always got it right and there are times when he still messes up, but for the most part he is trying.

He has very rarely treated me with disrespect, I am not saying there have not been times when he has stepped over the line, but I quickly pushed him back.

We have got this far, so I am confident we can keep going forward together.

The fact that he is trying, in my opinion, is what makes the difference between staying with a person or not. We are all human and make mistakes. But the trying to do what's right can make all the difference in the world. Don't you agree?

Yes Safenow, I do agree. There is no point in trying to support someone who is unwilling to try to help themselves. In fact it is impossible.

So sorry I didn't see this thread earlier! There usually always something swept under the rug I say. Some memories surface on their own. I am very glad nothing more happened and that he is safe and was able to share it with you.

I hope he doesn't have too many more and that he sees a therapist soon. By the way, what's the word on that?

Still no word on the therapist, but that is how it is in the UK, a bit hit and miss.

I am onto his Community psychiatric nurse about it though.
