Hello,

I'm a 29 yr old male, and my wife has been diagnosed with CPTSD. My wife was sexually abused as a child and is one of the most dominant factors driving her CPTSD. We've been married for four years and the past two years have been an enormous struggle. My story is a bit long so I'll keep my intro short... I'm here for an outlet for my own pain.

Sorry to hear that your wife is going through a tough time. I'm a sufferer and was diagnosed a year and a half ago with the more severe type of PTSD. My husband has had to deal with a lot when it comes to my PTSD. And, he worries enormously about me. I can imagine you would be in the same boat.

PTSD can be hard to understand and the reaction it has on a sufferers state of mind even harder. It can be scary for both sufferer and carer when PTSD effects every aspect of life - from mood reactions to physical reactions. Rest assured you will find many carers like yourself and sufferers like your wife who you can talk about anything you are thinking or feeling. Or answer any questions you have about the illness and its affects. We have a great deal of tools to help make life, for both suffer and carer, a little brighter.

Welcome to the forum. Do vent away, but also try to develop your knowledge of this illness too. The more you know, the better you can understand and manage what's happening at home.
