Thanks Bilby! It's bad timing. Today is my brother's birthday. He committed suicide this past February so I can't really feel the effects of the EMDR, because I'm a little too emotional. I will have to wait til things calm down.
Oh Autumncolors. I am so sorry to hear about your brother, I really am. Sadly, I can relate to this situation - I hope that in time, things become a little easier to bear. The loss of a loved one is never easy, particularly under tragic circumstances and I'm not sure we ever 'heal' completely - we just somehow 'evolve'...
Thanks again. Yesterday was difficult. I did however allowed myself to feel the pain and sorrow instead of pushing it away and pretending I was ok. It's hard letting go of learned behaviors and ways of comping. I noticed recently that whenever I truly acknowledge vunereable feelings that I heal and "evolve" a little each time. I think it's one of the keys to healing.
I'm glad (for want of a better word) to hear it. I lived in denial for too long and it jumped up and bit me on the backside later in life, so acknowledging how you are feeling and allowing it, is helping you work through the grief and loss.
My husband has so far, been going really well with EMDR. There are multiple traumas to address, however so far, he has had a positive outcome following each EMDR session. He seems to be looking at things in a different light - a more positive light - and he actually looks much happier within himself. Good stuff :)
I'm really sorry to hear that :( I know that everyone's experience with it is different - I hope that you won't feel angry after future sessions... good luck.
So I do EMDR and I become very emotional afterwards. I even tried it when I was studying but that became a mess. So basically, just be there to be supportive and to hear your husband out. Effects vary however, most cases I've seen the EMDR makes people very emotional as they relive their trauma in a different "mindframe."
