All I can say!!!
I keep realizing that more loved ones hurt me (via early CSA flashbacks) but at the same time I'm like "so what? I'm the mama/professional/big kid now."
So as part of the relationships forum I want to give appreciation to the relationships that let me get to this point.
I'm thankful for the latest research. I'm thankful for my sister for her strength. I thank my best friend for reflecting on the reality of my childhood home. I appreciate my HS boyfriend for boosting me up after I'd been broken down and ground into the dirt by the boy who "deflowered" me (though now I know I was raped as a toddler). I'm thankful for my husband's perspective (less affect can be good for sure!)
I'm thankful for my eldest son's resilience. I'm thankful for my own strength in admitting what I am facing to a group of highly regarded professionals in my field so that I could reduce my hours temporarily (x6mo) vs run away like I've done in the past when this shit arose.
Thank you every one and everything!!!
Please, powers that be multiply and extend these gifts out via powers of magnitude to the rest of our fellow sufferers on this planet.
And sh#! No disrespect to my CBT therapist that I still see (>15 yr later) now that I'm back in town and no longer the hipster emo disaffected post college kid-->>grad student but the "OMG I found a good mate, made 3 babies and now I'm supposed to be a grown up????"
Likewise all the universe's good energy to the mama I wish I had-- the P doc who said "why not?" When I mentioned the thought that I could maybe be a psychiatrist someday. So blessed to continue supervision now with such an important person!
And my acupuncturist who keeps me grounded and saved me from horrific post viral autoimmune hearing loss 3 years ago.
And geez the other clinicians, staff, and patients that I've been blessed to meet along the journey. No disrespect, this whole post was on the fly.
