Scorpigrow,
I'm writing my second book. I've been working on it for two years, and have lots more to do.
Most other writers I talk with say if ya want to improve your skill you have to write every day for at least an hour of two. I can't do that because of all the crap we've written about in this thread.
But, because of the changes in me there are days when I write for hours without a break. During those periods I turn out my very best stuff. And, as crazy as it sounds I owe a big part of that ability to focus and consentrate to my combat experience and post traumatic stress.
There were nights in the mountains of Quang Nam Provance when I spent hours looking at the green shadows in infra-red imaging devices. I will never let go of that ability to ficus because it was so important in those mountains. It's one of the curses I use to my advantage.
Point is, as f*cked up as we all are there are things we can do that others can't even imagine. You'll learn to use those things as you go through the healing process. We hard headed bastards are limited in many things, but unsptopable in others.
Don't sell yourself short. As you learn to work through bad times, and take full advantage of the good you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish.
